The Discarded- Rescuing a Tartan 33

Was going to put the nooks/kindles in some kind of totally sealed box (except for rubber-grommetted charging port). They are cheap enough and big enough I think I can skip buttons to switch the display. I assumed everyone keeps a normal laptop below for OpenCPN and whatever other stuff...

The Discarded- Rescuing a Tartan 33

But shouldn't I just write a web page that pulls data from the laptop running OpenCRM and display it on sunlight-visible e-paper nooks or kindles at <$99/ea. (Running over the wifi)?

    Dave's perfect sailboat

You have to ask?! Awesome website, very informative about all aspects of the process. Thanks especially for the part about costs - In a million years I wouldn't have thought it could be so reasonable. Really in spitting range for anyone who would consider a new boat in this size range.

Mine is still on the way, so you can put it towards the dodger fund. Give it another 3 weeks. Or buy Jeff a bottle of scotch.

    Southampton Solent Model Yacht Contest

This was our preferred method for model airplane wings back when I was in HS. Hotwire cutting with a jig beats the heck out of cutting a zillion ribs by x-acto. Gee whiz I spent a lot of time doing that. Laser cutting would have totally changed our life. We built small glider wings out of the...

    My newest project

I was looking back through the thread and I couldn't find (though it's probably there) - how much does the hull weigh (w/o ballast)?

The Discarded- Rescuing a Tartan 33

When I moved my old boat from outside Hamilton to Lake Simcoe (~150km? including an explosive tire failure on the 407, good thing the trailer was 2-axle) we discovered a surprised and unhappy mother racoon and her kits under the cockpit. I called a local exterminator with coon experience, he...

My friend Jeff is doing a solo, non stop circumnavigation -Day 51

I think our next collection will have to be for a nicer dodger for Jeff. Sorry, the watermaker can wait.

Bob I'm in for $50. I'll put a cheque in the mail but it may be about a month till it gets there :-) If the postal service here sent it by Baba 40 it might be faster.

My friend Jeff is doing a solo, non stop circumnavigation -Day 51

If someone sets up a crowdfunding thingy to get Jeff a nice half-hull of a Baba 40, I'll chip in. GK?

My even newer project for The Man In The Moon

Interesting. Maybe that's the definition: my ketch would not go to weather without the mizzen. But I could make (slow) progress in a blow without the main. Could be an easy way to cut out weather helm. Mizzens are also good for steering - lock the tiller in the middle (I had a clutch) and helm...

    My newest project

Just one gripe Bob: where do you get off calling it a ketch?! The mizzen is too small. It is a yawl.

Am I correct that Jeff gets to hang a port and get the hell out of the 40s after West Cape?
