Your weight is not a problem. I'm the dude in the video above, and - honestly - i'm actually pushing 235 lbs in that video. The nice thing is that if you're a *FIT* 225, then you won't ever need the 7 or 5 rig. With that weight, and after becoming sufficiently acquainted with the boat, you can...

This last weekend was my last time back in Corpus Christ since I saw this facebook post. I took a VERY close look at my gudgeon. I'm now convinced that the cracks I see in my gudgeon area are just gelcoat level cracks and are not structural (i.e. do not penetrate beyond the gelcoat). So, I don't...

The Laser and the Aero are both pretty uncomfortable when drifting around in super light winds (what small, fast dinghy isn't?). I haven't been able to discern a distinction in comfort between the two in drifter conditions. The Aero is definitely more comfortable in hiking conditions. To me...

I'd love to see a video of Chunky rigging up in that wind!

You guys ever have problems w/ the halyard cleat not working? I've found that the halyard sometimes works its way out of the cleat while sailing, resulting in a sagging sail and a quick rush to shore. Never happens on a "normal" outing. But if I have a hard capsize and dig the mast into the...

Well, makes sense, but ruins my fantasy of Santa's workshop filled w/ my favorite boats.

Was the RS700 one of the other models? It would be nice to know that the RS700 and the Aero are siblings at birth.

FWIW, my post was meant to defend the sailor. You can't be faulted for not holding the mainsheet if there's no mainsheet to hold.

If you look carefully, you can see that the sailor reaches down instinctively at 0:52 to grab a bit of mainsheet, and then realizes - "Oh right, there's no mainsheet left to grab."

In my personal opinion, the mainsheet should be long enough so that you can fully let it out when sailing downwind. That way, when coming to shore downwind you can let it out completely and just gently drift to shore. Otherwise, you've got to come in hauling ass and do a 180 back upwind at the...

I didn't notice that when I first watched the video. To be fair, though, the mainsheet that comes w/ the Aero is absurdly short. And if you tie the end of the mainsheet to the back end of the hiking strap (as both I and the guy in the video do), then you're left with an exceptionally short...

Cleats and such are all installed. That white cover has "shoulder pads" to cover the fittings and other "touch points." Only major fitting I had to install was the thing that the main-sheet goes through (it *clicks* when you pull, and is silent when you release - forgot what it's called).

Thanks RedTuna. I've never done so many tacks and jibes in one day. All the maneuvering around prior to the start: wow! I feel like my skills bumped up a notch from the whole experience. But to be fair, I think I had a grossly miscalculated Portsmouth rating. If I recall, the Aero was given a...

Jimmy: I have the surfboard mount on my Aero and it does indeed work quite well. Since the deck is a little depressed in comparison to the boat's edge, you'll want the "gooseneck" attachment to rise the camera up 5 inches or so. But when you do so, you've got to be careful not to place the...

The "Features" page on the official RS website for the Aero mentions a "GoPro camera mount". What is that? I've rigged up something myself, but if you have an official nifty GoPro mount I'd be interested.

Took my Aero 9 out on its maiden voyage yesterday. Shifty variable winds in a local freshwater lake, but it would blow ~17 mph for about 3-4 minutes at a time off an on throughout the whole day, so I got to test it out in a variety of conditions. First and foremost: this boat is FAST! Also, the...

Started driving at 8 a.m. yesterday to pick up my new Aero. Took possession and arrived back home at 7 p.m. Spent most of today commissioning the Aero and rigging it up in my front yard. Pros Noticed Thus Far: Compared w/ my Laser, looks like rig up/down time should be much faster once i get...

Damn - the trailer looks sweet. Unfortunately, I've already ordered my Aero w/ a generic general purpose small watercraft trailer. Hopefully, with the light weight of the Aero, it won't hurt for its hull to be sitting on the padded slats. I've never noticed that it hurts my Laser to do so...

Great. Thanks for the update. I've got an Aero 9 on that container all bought and paid for. Can't wait!!
