    J/111 Goes Sailing...

Having sailed a Class 40 and lots in a J/111 that seems backwards.....   or you just schooled much faster boats.  Around here a J/111 rates 30sec/mile slower than a Gen 1 Class 40 rated without water ballast.

We did a stripped weigh in for Invisible Hands ORR rating early this year. Took out forward berth, door, stove+tank, cushions, etc. Came in 9,250 lbs.

Invisible Hand #4 went the staysail route right away, works well.

Well the design of the Hand's Code-0 has the tack about 1ft from the bow, so using the spinnaker pole would have put it well off center-line.

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

Invisible Hand has a short 'Prod" for flying the Code-0. The pole doesn't allow the Code-0 to fly on center line unless your at full extension which is way to far out for a tack point of a Code-0 on the J/111 (at least based on our sailmakers design) and would require a bobstay.

We have a purpose build Code-0 Prod since the pole does not allow for a centered tack until fully deployed which is to long.

Not in the plans for the Hand........ possible other options.

Thanks Trev. Pretty pleased overall. LOTS of upwind work. We started Saturday and on Monday afternoon we still were working the Light#1 in <7k or the Code-0. Basically we were water-lined for a majority of the race. In one day of running we made up a lot of ground and if one of the...

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

So he recommended tacking the Code-0 to the pole WITHOUT a bobstay? Good luck with that. Other "Js" I've seen have used a bobstay so shortening the pole extension as the wind builds would stiffen the pole but again, it will only be on center when the pole is fully extended, not the best...

Had a body up the rig today to look for issues and roll/unroll and of course it just came right out!!! Tried everything Saturday, varied halyard tension of course. Narrow shackle sounds like the culprit. Thanks.
