    J/111 Goes Sailing...

yeah, thats one of those things that bothered me about the 111, so many things were right, but the vang wasnt lead aft, and the clutches are split on either side of the companionway. granted you can put in crossfeeders etc, but still, it just simplifies things to have it all down the middle of...

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

J111 is currently leading PHRF 1. It was light air and lumpy water today.

plus it'd probably be the smallest boat by a few feet in the IRC fleet.

having raced with Rush a couple years ago at KWRW, they are a great program. Bill knows how to handle his boat for sure.

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

for those that keep complaining that the market wants a dual purpose boat with an interior... the rate at which the boat is selling indicates otherwise...

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

i still cant believe how quickly these things have been selling, but it sounds like J definitely designed a new winner. Should be neat to see how the fleet progresses and does (for the short term) in rating races. Though it sounds like OD isnt far away in some areas... Ragbag, the helm is...

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

i thought the point of not putting a real bulb on there was to keep the keel from catching stuff and to avoid the cost of a kelp cutter. and, what is adding a kelp cutter going to do for OD?...

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

if you dont cycle the seawater through the system every so often, yeah, its gonna stink... or if fat bastard drops a deuce... but i dont think our head was ever shit in as long as we owned the boat, maybe once - it was just the seawater getting that rotten egg smell if it wasnt cycled.

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

ok most of your post is bullshit anyone, but especially this paragraph. First off, our main for our boat was 4k, but we got a good deal as it normally went for about about 5.5 at that time. they built the sail with a higher thread count than the owner wanted so he canceled the order, ergo, cheap...

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

i bet profits have gone down, per dollar of input... labor costs more, materials cost more, etc. but hey, what do i know. and i do agree that the jboats on the whole seem a bit over priced. J/111 Goes Sailing...

the battens are setup like a tape measure, a concave piece of metal. they are straight until enough force is applied to "break" it and then it rolls up. they are a godsend on the bow.

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

looks like a decent hull. however, there are a few quirks with the pit setup (sans seats, i've already hashed that one out...) i would like to see changed if we got the boat (which isnt happening anyway... but hey, this is SA!). On the 109 the cam cleats for the jib leads were lead at a shallow...
