    2021 Sydney to Hobart

Big shout out to Supernova (the first boat i owned a bit of) currently in 8th place.  Co skipper on board is Felicity Nelson, on her third attempt at completing her 25th Hobart! Fabulous achievement no matter where they come! Give them an extra cheer when they come in!

    2021 Sydney to Hobart

If this goes the way MA wants, then i think IB is going to get called up on vhf16 an awful lot on every race they do!

    2021 Sydney to Hobart

Well we really have to hope that either Azzurro or Love&War finish in time, else the result will be decided in the room and a lot of us will be at risk of getting sued for our comments about it!

    2021 Sydney to Hobart

I've heard some scuttlebutt about a protest from Matt Allen? Anybody got any details... or is it just scuttlebutt?

    2021 Sydney to Hobart

Current top 10 whilst the little boats have good VMG running. Probably won't last long... But they have his to spare at the moment.

And the carbon fiber: engine box, companion way stairs, rudder, tiller, toilet, coffee cup holders, etc. etc. Not to mention the total lack of furniture or anything non essential. There is not even any dust on board and since she is dry sailed, there is little moisture in any structure...

    2021 Sydney to Hobart

And that's empty weight. There is a lot more gear on Crux and the personal gear of Carlos & Peter is probably more than the total gear for the 6 crew on Azzurro (including any contraband smuggled past Shane)!

    2021 Sydney to Hobart

I'm loving the race between Crux and Azzurro. One boat with all the heavy gear replaced with carbon fiber and the other with all the heavy crew taken off:)

    SailGP

The AC boats can leave the windward foil in and generate negative lift when need be, and then lift it out when it's no longer necessary. Best of both worlds.

As has been pointed out in another thread, she was the only one on board not looking backwards. Sir Ben said that one of his crew did ask "do you see the other boat", so that was likely Hannah. Sir Ben is known for taking things to the limit and also not welcoming tactical input other than raw...

    SailGP 2021

Why? Sir Ben has already said somebody on his crew called "do you see the other boat?".    I'm not sure the dynamic on team GB is one where you can shout "up Up UP!" at the helm and expect to either be noticed or on the boat next race! I'm expecting that the GB crew all just assumed Sir Ben...

    SailGP 2021

It's not cheating, nor faking. It's called match racing. Ok this was a 3 boat race but Australia has got away, leaving 2 boats to duke it out. Taking unnecessary avoiding action and pushing the penalty button is part of the game. This one was a bit soft, but it doesn't change the fact that...

The official 2021 Tokyo Olympics thread

I'm not saying they did. I'm just looking for what the actual rule is and this what the French have to prove. No joy finding it so far.

The official 2021 Tokyo Olympics thread

Anybody know what the actual rule against team racing is in the 470s?  It was a bit drop for GB to call from 2nd to behind Poland.... but then shit happens and they had Gold in the bag...

    SailGP

The penalty given to Japan at the start of race 5 was a bit strange to me. Japan was windward of Australia and had to keep clear.  Ahead of them was Denmark going slowly, but as both Australia and Japan were clear astern of her, they both had to keep clear and thus Denmark was an obstruction to...

    SailGP

You can say that about almost any penalty in these boats. Fundamentally reaching starts are ridiculous because they setup situations like this. Any boat that does perfect time and distance can be taken out by an early boat sailing the line. What next? Any boat trying a port pin end start in a...

    SailGP 2021

I've tried really hard to follow sailGP but it's impossible: Nothing live on YouTube or any streaming platform i can see ; the app is soooooo slow and unusable ; live audio but you can't see the main video feed ; lots of boat cameras but they have no audio; the umpire view has audio but it's...

The AC 37 has started, news and rumours

The problem with the AC is that it is normally so out there, that the bat shit crazy April fools posts I'm seeing everywhere for it, all sound plausible!
