Farr 36OD looking to head West

USA 05, Wicked, Red.  The yellow one (Wicked Sister, USA 03)is still racing out in San Fran/Tahoe, but was owned by the same guy who sold USA 05 to our owner.  War Pony (USA 04) was the one that was set up for short handed and set some sort of record for the race to Hawaii.  We have an...

Farr 36OD looking to head West

I think we're likely to do the N2E.  Debauchery is now Racer X, right?  USA 006?

Sarcoma, love the idea, but isn't it a weee bit frosty in the January to April months?

Farr 36OD looking to head West

Grinder, we're definitely interested in the SD/PV/MEXORC, but it won't happen for 2018.  I apparently am required to show up at my own wedding which is unfortunately at the same time.  I think the MEXORC is even years only, so we'll look to do it in 2020.

Farr 36OD looking to head West

Thanks Frank.  If possible we'd like to group a series of days together as we'll be flying in and out.  Are there any other races we could piggy back on to the Saturday race?  This boat originally came from the pool of 4 F36's sailing in San Fran.

Farr 36OD looking to head West

It's about to get cold in flyover country, so we're thinking about packing up and heading west.  The boat is a Farr 36OD (not to be confused with a Mumm/Farr 36).  We LMPHRF at +9.  We'd prefer buoys, but are flexible.  What's on your winter (Jan-April) bucket list for West Coast/SOCAL Sailing...

Completed Evolution of the Super Mac - now pictures of winning boats?

Great work! I did the Super Mac for the first time this year, and it was certainly one I'll remember. Re: GLSSS Super Mac and Back: I believe 9 entered, and 4 finished, 2 in each direction. Link to source: http://www.solosailors.org/pdfs/mac08results.pdf The Inaugural GLSS 2008 Super Mac...

C&C 44, Anyone have experience with this boat racing or cruising?

I've done a fair bit of work with the owner that Jackdraw and Headroom reference above, as has the local yard. His is the regular keel version. He bought the boat with the intention of keeping enough in the budget to modify it to his liking. Some of it is "go-fast," some of it is for...

    3 dead in N2E

Reports have stated 4 aboard. I'm not questioning or commenting on the size of the crew.

    3 dead in N2E

The following is complete speculation and conjecture based on experience. Experience: We sail/race across Lake Superior, often up/down the shipping lanes. On more than one occasion, while the fleet is bobbing with triple zeros in pea soup fog 30-50 miles from shore, we've had freighters come...

    U-20 sinking

Rick- We'd actually shot a TON of vid from two mounted HD cams as well as a handheld still cam we had running for a bunch of the event, and were planning a nice little PR piece. All three of us would do just about anything for the class, but swimming off one isn't on the list of planned...

    U-20 sinking

Correction to my post above: We had initially been told the boat sank by USCG when Gregg spoke with them at 2am while attempting to sort out recovery with Boat US. The next day we were told the boat was found suspended in 60 feet of water, but apparently it never went down all the way. One...

    U-20 sinking

At approximately 9:30,we(Goombay) were approximately 8 miles from Menonimee on starboard reaching away from the storm, bearing 326 at 7 knots. I'd just given up the helm to Gregg. Gregg looked up, called downdraft, and then we fully broached port side down. We stood the boat up once(eased...

Biodegradable Bow Stickers or Backstay Flags

Block Island Race Week had stickers for the boom. That seemed to work really well. We usually soap and squeegee, but at 20knots, it's hard enough to keep crew on the boat, much less stickers. Plus, the Rolex stickers are usually so recockulously huge that they are partially below our...

Yes, but at St. Maarten everyone stayed on board. This is shortly after Kevlin decided to go for a drag on the tack line.
