Let’s face it, Omicron is not very virulent.  The devolution of the virus continues.

That is hopeful news.

From that article -

The report also revealed that more younger people were being admitted to hospital with omicron Covid infections, but this could be related to lower rates of vaccination among such age groups in South Africa.

That is a point of concern, as the younger people being admitted to the hospital with COVID are under age 5.  What is the current situation for children under 5 in the US being vaccinated?

We are well aware of your dismissal of those who are unvaccinated.  I guess it's just tough luck for those kids.

Thank God you are highly unlikely to procreate.

Delta deja vu. all over again.

Omicron significantly reduces Covid antibodies generated by Pfizer vaccine, study finds

The new study is the first to show how omicron compares to previous variants, such as beta and delta, on a level playing field and the preliminary data shows antibodies in blood samples are 41 times less effective for omicron than for the 2020 strain.

“This doesn't mean vaccines will be 40x less effective,” said Dr Muge Cevik, an infectious disease expert at the University of St Andrews who was not involved in the research.

However, it will be several weeks before real-world data is available and more nuanced evaluations are possible.
