In the unlikely event you're asking about the thread topic, yes.

If you're talking about seeking out young prostitutes on SugarDaddyMeet.com, no. I know what words mean and don't mistake that for pedophilia, but it's still creepy.
Dogballs!

the guy pursued and had sex with a 16 yo.  It’s Textbook pedophilia for normal people (right wing gun nutters are of course excepted from the group.

She signed up for SugarDaddyMeet.com, sent him nude pics of herself, met him at a hotel, and accepted $500 for sex. That's a young prostitute.

Since you're unaware of the things you like to use as a smear, here you go:

https://www.britannica.com/topic/pedophilia

Pedophilia, also spelled paedophilia, also called pedophilic disorder, psychosexual disorder, generally affecting adults, characterized by sexual fantasies about or attempts to engage in sexual acts with a prepubescent child of the same or opposite sex.

Pedophilia may be distinguished from hebephilia (sexual preference for individuals who typically are between ages 11 and 14) and ephebophilia (sexual preference for late-stage adolescents, typically ages 15 and 16).
Do you know what prepubescent means, or do I have to look that one up too? Do you at least know what "ages 15 and 16" means?

And just for giggles, since I love questions to which the answer is obvious but which won't be answered:

Have you got any thoughts at all on the thread topic?

Gun Nutz heros aren’t exactly upstanding members of society.
That moral connection, that breakdown of values, ^^^, is fascinating. The two biggest gun nuts in our shop both play fast and loose with the facts.

The :SAF: first dedicated itself to fake news, by publishing disinformation for a few years about global warming, before it shifted to fake news about the bill of rights.

Tom is defending the sketchy sexual behavior of a sketchy guy. And the thread drift is about action sports: the known sexual behavior of the NRA types. Allow me,

NRA Leaders' Links to Sexual Scandals

The following is a list of controversial statements and actions of NRA leaders regarding their ties to Sexual Scandals. NRA leaders are listed alphabetically by last name.

Bob Barr (Board Member)

Edit Link:

In January 1999, Barr’s second wife, Gail, swore in an affidavit that she was convinced that Barr had an affair with a woman who would become his third wife while he was still married to her. Barr did not deny the affair when asked about it repeatedly during divorce proceedings. The affidavit was released to the public while Barr served as a manager during impeachment proceedings against President Bill Clinton. Impeachment managers were Congressmen on the House Judiciary Committee who functioned as prosecutors during the proceedings. Clinton was impeached after he was accused of lying about an extra-marital affair.

Larry Craig (Board Member)

Edit Link:

In June 2007, Craig, a married man, was arrested in a Minneapolis airport bathroom and charged with lewd conduct after an undercover male police officer accused him of making sexual advances. Craig later pled guilty to disorderly conduct. The Idaho Statesman published a comprehensive investigative report alleging that Craig engaged in sex acts with men for decades. A number of men gave accounts of sexual encounters with Craig.

Larry Craig (Board Member)

Edit Link:

In a 1999 appearance on Meet the Press, Craig criticized then-President Bill Clinton for having an extramarital affair, calling Clinton “a nasty, bad, naughty boy”.

Larry Craig (Board Member)

Edit Link:

Craig urged his sexual partners to keep quiet by using threats, reportedly telling one man in 1986, “I can buy and sell your ass a thousand times over. You were never here.

Larry Craig (Board Member)

Edit Link:

In 1982 a former male Congressional page alleged that Members of Congress had encouraged pages to engage in sexual activity and drug and alcohol use. While no Members of Congress were specifically named, then-Representative Craig issued a preemptive statement denying involvement.

Karl Malone (Board Member)

Edit Link:

In 2008, ESPN reported that when Malone was a sophomore at Louisiana Tech he impregnated a 13-year-old girl. Their son, who is now a professional athlete, has said, “I treat it as if my mother went to the sperm bank. I don't hate him for [not being in my life]. It made me a better person.”

Karl Malone (Board Member)

Edit Link:

In 2004, LA Lakers player Kobe Bryant accused Malone of making passes at his wife. “What he said is what he said. I believe in my heart that it wasn't a misunderstanding. My wife wasn't going to stand for it. She felt uncomfortable being around him to the point that she felt she had to call his wife and tell her,” said Bryant. According to Malone’s agent, Bryant’s wife asked Malone, “Hey, cowboy, what are you hunting?” and Malone replied, “I'm hunting for little Mexican girls.” Bryant’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, is of Mexican descent.

Chuck Norris (Celebrity Spokesperson)

Edit Link:

In an August 10, 2008 op-ed for WorldNetDaily about the extra-marital affair of Democratic politician John Edwards, Norris wrote, “I myself have experienced it, as I wrote about in the chapter ‘A sin that became a blessing’ in my autobiography, ‘Against All Odds,’ in which I discuss an adulterous one-night stand in the early ’60s that resulted in my wonderful daughter, Dina.” In “Against All Odds,” Norris described several dates he and his friend went on with two sisters, despite the fact that Norris was married at the time. According to Norris, “One night Johanna and I went to a drive-in movie alone, and we engaged in sexual intercourse, right there in the car.” Norris went on to harshly criticize Edwards for his affair, writing, “Enduring public humiliation is not the only price a political leader should pay for improprieties; I think they should be disciplined, suspended, if not disposed from areas of future public service. The consequence of corruption should also be increased restrictions, if not a banning from certain areas of public service. If one cannot properly handle their private affairs, can we truly expect them to handle political ones?” In another column published in February 2007, Norris encouraged Newt Gingrich—who participated in multiple extra-marital affairs—to run for president “because despite personal past shortcomings, I believe Newt is a Republican as they used to be and, even more, meets the criteria established by men of old

HP's New Metal Printer

A number of companies offer metal 3D printing, which creates products and components layer by layer with a computer-controlled system tracing its lineage to ordinary inkjet printers. But on Monday, printing giant HP announced it's entered the market with the ambition to dramatically lower prices, courtesy of a $400,000 product called the Metal Jet.

"We're really going to enable mass production for mainstream metals, in particular steels," said Tim Weber, head of 3D metal printing for HP.

...

When it's done printing, the parts are taken out and the unused powder is separated for reuse. The parts then undergo a heating operation called sintering that fuses the powder into a solid block. Sintering technology is decades old but complex, which is why HP has signed partnerships for this stage with two manufacturing experts, Parmatech and GKN Powder Metallurgy.
So I wonder if the fancy sintering tech overcomes this issue:

I know a bit about additive manufacturing, not too much, but from what I do know, metal powder, deposited and baked, will never make tooling of the quality of gently-cut cold steel, because it's basically amorphous, the crystalline domains in well-protected cold steel are going to win in hardness.

It might help, but I suspect you still can't get those tight, naturally-grown domains with it. And sometimes you want an amorphous structure, it might work for things like turbine blades where you have to work with a single grain anyway. And it might work for some guns. But tool steel, I'm pretty sure no.

Now, if they combine Laser Shock Peening with it, maybe then quench it, that might be even harder than regular steel without LSP.

I still have the same hesitation re/tolerancing of chamber and bore.

I can't speculate if it would be suitable for the type of working loadings a barrel has.

Let the nerds do notched Izod, tensile,  etc.

If test numbers are reasonable, print a barrel.

Jocal has to fire the proof round.

I don't mean to always sound like Negative Nancy about printed parts, in some applications it could be "the right tool for the job".

On the other hand, barrel is "special" because it is a Pressure Vessel,  and material failure means high speed shrapnel

Printing a barrel is going to be a very slow process in metal.

, and yes, "about" made my eyes bug out too, which means one  Print$  around 20% more material.

Sintering take  lots KW/hours,

and still needs rifling, and finish machine all surfaces ( like I mentioned upthread ).

Melted Rocks Method: Rifle Barrel

Go to the rack & grab a pre-heat treated bar of 4140 - 4150.

The gun drill takes 20~30 minutes to do minor diameter.

Broaching the lands & grooves takes some time.

Then to the lathe for outside profile, ream and finish chamber.

Lap the bore,  and air gage.

:) Bring in a big box of Donuts,  and the guys will have it waiting for you tomorrow morning.

:D and it won't blow yer face off, kid.

Thanks for that, BPM.

, just shows that I haven't been following the current state of the art all that much,  other to call out the book burners.

It DOES have rifling, I heard him ringing the steel. Article does not mention if any post print attention to bore.

I was a bit surprised to learn he's printing Inconel.

Really tough stuff to machine,   the small parts baskets in heat treat shop were Inconel for withstanding hundreds of heat/quench cycles.

Interesting  that the barrel seems to be structural enough at 1.3k rounds,,  10k would give a bit more confidence.

Pistols run at way less pressure than rifles,  so there's a next step.

If you poke around on there, they mention that there was some post-printing "finishing", but they were adamant about no machining operations.

Just from the pictures it is obvious that they polished it..

But note all of this was direct laser sintering, not the "print metal with a binder and bake it later" that was mentioned in the thread.

The "bind and bake" process is good enough whenever "about 15%" is accurate enough or a good enough start for final machining but

they were adamant about no machining operations.
That's pretty cool. It's also almost 5 years old. It's amusing that they chose a 1911.

Thanks again,  BPM,  more good stuff.

They are indeed printing a rifled bore with enough tolerance control.

I am familiar with 17-4 .  It is one of a family of "precipitation hardening"  stainless.

Meet the new boss, hell of a lot better looking than the old boss.

Cody Wilson is gone but Defense Distributed has a new head. They're not gone, nor are the Second Amendment Foundation lawsuits.

The Defense Distributed press conference hasn't been thrown off YouTube yet as of this morning.

You've misunderstood.

That was a pretty awesome display of metallurgy and machining skills for a guy with a backyard shop. I've got a dollar that says not many here had seen the blue in use before.

Blue collar skills are vastly undervalued.
Great thread. Technically speaking, I appreciate your work.

A new New Jersey statute (enacted by SB2465) bans

distribut[ing] by any means, including the Internet, to a person in New Jersey who is not registered or licensed as a [gun] manufacturer ..., digital instructions in the form of computer-aided design files or other code or instructions stored and displayed in electronic format as a digital model that may be used to program a three-dimensional printer to manufacture or produce a firearm, firearm receiver, magazine, or firearm component.

Defense Distributed and the Second Amendment Foundation, represented by Chad Flores (Beck Redden LLP), Matthew Goldstein (Farhang & Medcoff), and Prof. Josh Blackman (South Texas College of Law), have just filed a motion for a temporary restraining order seeking to block enforcement of the law.
You can't even have digital files saying how to make any component of a firearm, let alone a functional gun.
