The 2021 J105 North American Championship kicks off today in the editors favorite place of Annapolis, MD.  While the local Annapolis fleet normally has a strong showing, there are a number of out of town competitors including boats from New York, Florida, Texas, California and even the friendly neighbor to the north, Canada.

While the rosters of crew don't hold the normal weight of Group 3 professionals, rest assured there are some very good sailors in the fleet this weekend.  Will the perennial local favorites hold off the out of towners, or will the boat from Texas who won Annapolis YC Fall series continue the trend and take it away from the hometown crowd?

Current weather could show a vast range of conditions over the next 4 days.

Racing starts at 11 on Day 1, with light winds building this afternoon.

Day 2 might be looking like a blow out due to the developing Nor' Easter off the coast.

Day 3 and Day 4 will be anyone's guess after the storm pulls out.

No wind yesterday.  25+ today, with not enough runway!

Kent Island!
There is never any wind in Annapolis, ever.  I am pretty sure the whole J-105 fleet died of heatstroke and slowly floated off with the tide, or up Main Street maybe

This may be a record. Least amount of collisions ever at a J/105 regatta so far!

Interesting that they wrote an amendment to the NOR that allows SF boats to buy some extra sails for this event, as long as they sell them on before the end of the year.
SOP and the opposite for boats regarding HA sails when NA's are in SF.

35g45 yesterday with docks underwater was a bit much.  Great conditions today and tomorrow!

If the don't sell them, then what? December 31st big bargain on sails for the 105. WTF. Opties for old guys,
