So I'm guessing these aren't accepted entries yet?

A little birdie told me that most of the European 2-hander boats don't meet S2H stability because they race Cat 2 in Europe?
Well according to a 2021 ORC Certificate, the SunFast 3300 has a limit of positive stability of 112.8 - seems low? Stability Index of 107.6.

But one went last year.

The Sun Fast 3200 also has a similarly low SI but one raced last year also.

However, the answer is in the race stability declaration document. These boats meet the ISO 12217-2 Cat A requirement.

The advantage of owning a European production racer :)

According to this doco from the RORC, ISO 12217-2 Cat A has a minimum stix of 32

The CYCA stability declaration for the 2022 SH I attached makes no mention of a higher STIX value, just that it complies with ISO 12217-2 Cat A. But this is contray to AS's rues for cat 1

the ORCV does state the 35 for cat 1, which I guess is the Melb 2 Osaka

Category 1 Races:

  • ORCI Stability Index of 115 or greater, OR
  • ISO 12217-2 Design Category A STIX minimum of 35
Category 2 races:

  • ORCi stability index of 110 or greater, OR
  • ISO 12217-2 Design Category A (which requires a minimum STIX value of 32)

Perhaps there is another doco that states the stix 35, but the declaration seems wrong if they expect a 35

You mean like, I dunno, the NoR ?

3.1 Boat
A boat shall:
...
(c) Comply with AS Special Regulations Part 1 for Race Category 1. The Organising Authority highlights the following AS Special Regulations: (i) A boat must satisfy the stability criteria of the AS Special Regulations Part 1 Appendix B (extracts of which are included in Appendix B of this NoR);

Appendix B:

Non-Moveable Variable Ballast Boats

A boat shall provide evidence as follows to demonstrate that it achieves not less than:
• An ORCi Stability Index of 115 for the configuration in which the boat proposes to race; or
• International Standard ISO 12217 – 2 Design Category A except that the STIX Number shall be
increased to a minimum of 35 and the angle of vanishing stability (AVS) shall be a minimum of
120 (The OA may elect to obtain technical advice as to a boat’s eligibility and the data and
documentation supplied, at the cost of the entrant concerned. This may include having
measurements redone and documentation reproduced by another Naval Architect).

Moveable Variable Ballast Boats
A boat shall provide evidence as follows to demonstrate that it achieves not less than:
• An ORCi Stability Index of 115 and a Ballast Leeward Recovery Index of minimum 0.9 for the
configuration in which the boat proposes to race; or
• International Standard ISO 12217 – 2 Design Category A except that the STIX Number shall be
increased to a minimum of 35 and a Knockdown Recovery Factor of minimum 0.9 (The OA may
elect to obtain technical advice as to a boat’s eligibility and the data and documentation supplied,
at the cost of the entrant concerned. This may include having measurements redone and
documentation reproduced by another Naval Architect).

Not too many production boats will make that.
