And for the muppets saying Comanche could have ducked LC. Look at this screenshot. You can see her tacking position and wake behind the Leech of LCs main. If you think you could Bat Turn a 100 footer into a duck in that space you’re on drugs and will hurt people. Herman did the right thing.

Not saying I disagree, but did you see the hard right turn BJ did to avoid LC and WOXI?

Also you can't rely on camera angles. The only real thing you can take from that is AC had completed her tack.

Any mistakes AC made here started before she reached the boundary.

Also I’ll add a take: the WOXI spins were for crossing LC when LC were tacking to avoid a Starboard tacker in BJ. LC had to THROW the bow through and still *barely* missed clipping the stern of WOXI. Murray J was right, Richo just wanted to be first out of the heads and he pushed it too hard.
I think you may be correct about this, although it seemed to me that LC could have ducked but instead drove themselves into this situation. After Oats rounded the turning mark you can hear them discussing that they were both on port tack before deciding to do turns. Watching the replay I don't see an infraction here, but that's easier to say when you have the video to watch.

Amazing that the race commentary never even discussed BJ's mark rounding. That one seems a pretty clear penalty, even with Comanche stuffing it into the mark in a panic.

What has happend to Wild Oats, they are doing 6kn for a while now and they are in the middel of the slower boats.
There is another much smaller Wild Oats in the race. Are you looking at that one? I still see Hamilton Island Wild Oats in 4th well separated from the peloton of smaller boats.

Byron Bay
WOXI a bit behind the top 3 boats. Conditions in Bass Strait look quite benign going off the LC feed. Andoo 35 miles behind the 2017 record run.

So a starboard tack boat can run another boat aground?

As for timing, it's the difference between a crash and a miss.

We are talking about 100ft boats 20 ft apart. Timing is everything.
Weasel words for being wrong. Read the rules, I think it's Rule 20 or there abouts.

Don't be such a dick. You clearly did not understand the situation.

So, you have never sailed on a maxi/supermaxi/superyacht eh, that's sad.

It's also sad that you feel it necessary or even appropriate to dis someone else's ride.

I have sailed on boats which required a motor running to supply winch power, and I certainly called it sailing - and I loved it. Maybe one day you will get a chance ... but probably not if you continue to spout uninformed bullshit.
I don't give a fuck what you have sailed on.

Diesel is stored energy, something banned on other craft, it's not sailing.

There should be a separate category for stored energy boats.

Easy there Jack, I’m in full agreement with you. If there was any chance C could have ducked cleanly and raced on I’m sure they would have and enjoyed getting clear of that fk up. pretty Sure I also commended Herman’s work on avoiding any mess there and taking his turns for running over the turning mark, avoiding BJ😉

Pic pretty clearly shows that if C completes her tack, falling onto the same heading as BJ, she’s not left with much room before an incident. Going from the onboard and the wake lines, a tack was never completed and room was not given for her to do so.
