Richo and the old girl are starting to suffer from the old boxer syndrome. Make a comeback and find the opposition is tougher now.

Must be a bitch after all those years they were bigger and faster.

30 gusting 40 NNE at Tasman Island AC is 75 miles away and about 20 degrees above their layline so a sphincter clenching couple of gybes at some stage

Looks like one of the TPs for the win if they can get in before 10.00 am tomorrow. It will be a wild night for them.
If they don't make it I am still backing Alive to get in in good time although Willow can really go in those conditions if they are brave enough. She can average mid 20s in those conditions.
I am amazed at how flat the seas are for Law connect on the live feed. Great sailing conditions on her.

I put a few $ on Willow hoping they could take advantage of some breezy bits where others might have to back off.

Damn. Unless wild oats is off the East Coast of Tasmania already, something not right. Even the Google earth KML file show last years. Oh well.

On another note it will be interesting to find out how Koa will handle the lost rudder situation. Make up a sea anchor and wait for the change would be my first thought. I doubt they would be able to motor into 40kn anyway. Perhaps a balanced sailplan with a 3rd reef and storm jib might slowly let the boat work to windward.
Was just looking on Marinetraffic and looks like they are going North.

I feel Robbed.

I sort of want them to win, but the behaviour of the Jnr skipper put me off.
Give the kid a break.
He was nervous and noticably anxious as they headed back to the start after checking the racecourse.
He questioned the problem of being pressed against the exclusion zone clearly to his afterguard at about 3 min to go.
Have you ever helmed a large keelboat in any fleet start? There is a lot going on. Too much to take in. You rely on others. And it all falls on you.
Herman is a skiff sailor. Who took a few years off sailing completely to earn the coin to charter that beast.
Good on him.

Richo has been showing up for this rodeo for decades and looked like a complete prat.

Squark sailed BJ like all the other boats owed him a favour.
And will possibly get scrubbed for it.

Only 100'er looking vaguely clean was LC. But they have a question of giving water hanging over this forum's exspurts.

It was tough.
The exclusion zone was far too close to their 1st rounding mark.
Nobody died. Play on.

In the wild.
From the official News page:
"The maxis are approaching the finish line in the 2022 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and are expected to arrive in the early hours of Wednesday 28 December."

Can anyone in Hobart see them yet?
Asking for a myopic friend.
