See WOXI coming in last is a nice wrap to Christmas. After watching the bolloxed start and penalty turns with skipper whingeing about why they changed sails, it’s not really a surprise.

Pretty impressive that Caro and Warrior Won have been trucking along just a few hundred meters apart for the last 100nm. Keeping each other on their toes.
Two exceptionally well-sailed boats. I'm sure it's a deliberate strategy, no better way to ensure your guys have the boat going at 110%. Unfortunately for Caro, they need to beat WW 20ish minutes to win!
Somewhat notably, Caro only sails with 11 vs 14-15 on most of the other 52s, WW included. Figure that was an advantage in the more moderate running but now that it's full noise that advantage might actually go the other way.
To be honest it's advantage Celestial right now. Given a straight-forward run in home, you would rather be the slowest rating boat of the 4 lead 52s. Currently, 4 miles behind WW but they only need to finish within 35 minutes of them.
This race is going to come down to maneuvers, who was better gybes, takedowns, tacks etc... Mental!!

Methinks the helicopter shots at sunrise off the organ pipes this AM are going to be truly epic.
Also, I’m calling it now: Warrior Won to add 1nm to her lead on all the 52s on the blast reach into the finish. Bow team is going to be busier than a one legged bobcat trying to cover up his crap on a frozen lawn.

Yeah.......the race’s outdated-looking boxey kindergartener child-drawn 3D tracker view (WOXI limping toward the finish) and a screeen grab from LC’s onboard live feed. Which do you prefer....new standard for coverage of the maxis, as choppy as it was. Especially to reach a larger, non-sailing audience.

No need to change your underwear .... to be honest I never changed on Fastnet either and thats 5 days
Water ballast isn't much use vmg running in 25 knots! However, extra guys on the pumps, fresher drivers, and more bodies for sail changes certainly are useful!
I did things that way when I was younger. Not so much today. But I'm also racing offshore on a boat that has ice cream in the freezer, so you have to keep up appearances.
