So you went to Iraq, presumably to participate in the illegal invasion, and you are traumatised by the trauma which you illegally inflicted on Iraqis?

Or maybe you are one of those whiney narcissist soldiers who makes it all about you rather than the people you pointed your illegal invader's gun at, and you are traumatised just by the fact that you weren't greeted as a friend and some Iraqis got seriously pissed that your lot had bombed their country back to the stone age and tried to kill the illegal invader?

Or the shrink doctors are wrong and you are not traumatised at all about any part of being an illegal invader?

Who knows about any of that. Maybe @Blue Crab is right, and it's all just a piece of fantasy trolling. But true or false -- whiney killer or fantasist -- very childish.

But hey, there are adult perves here who will enjoy the photos.

So how about you go a bit more equal ops, by posting some dick pics for the boys who are into that sort of thing. If you wanna feed the perves, why not feed all of the perves?

Oh, and congrats on sailing 200 miles in a week. An average of almost 1.2 knots, you speedster!

Bravo, friend. You get the gist of the joke. I hope that sailing can help you find the peace that you need.

Regarding power- solar, batteries, generator/ Wind gen. Do an energy budget, then look around and figure out the real estate for all the parts.

There's nothing ill or disordered in suffering from post traumatic stress after experiencing fucked up shit. Just a normal reaction to abnormal circumstances.
Yes, there is too much pathologisation of PTSD. It's an injury, and healing is possible. If not, adaptation is no shame.

The shame is in participating in fucked-up shit. Flying thousands of miles to kill people in their own country is never going to work out well.

Most individual soldiers don't get to choose as to where they are sent. Once you enlist, it's "ok off to the sandbox next Tuesday".

As long as he didn't go around killing babies, molesting the goats and raping the women (uh none of that right?) then what he experienced in Iraq should be treated with some sympathy.

Our new member seems like he is a bit fucked up, but your political views should take a back seat.

richrock I hope you find some peace in your sailing adventures.

The UK and its predecessor states have invaded 90% of the countries on earth. If you sign up with those armed forces, you are signing up for invasions and overseas attacks. It's what they do, and what they are for.

If the history has somehow escaped you until you are all lined up and told "we're invading Some-stan", then you still have the opportunity to refuse the orders, and take the consequences. If you choose to stay with the criminal gang and to obey illegal orders, you are committing a war crime.

Principles 1 and 4 of the Nuremberg Principles apply, and are explicit about this:

Principle I: Any person who commits an act which constitutes a crime under international law is responsible therefor and liable to punishment.
Principle IV: The fact that a person acted pursuant to order of his Government or of a superior does not relieve him from responsibility under international law, provided a moral choice was in fact possible to him.

In this case, the crime was a War of Aggression, which the Nuremberg Tribunal described as "the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole".

This is not some sort of leftie wokie tofu-eating anti-western analysis, nor is it my "political views". These are the legal principles established by the USA and the UK after World War II. Go take your objections to Churchill & Roosevelt, who designed the framework that produced those principles.

Good lord, give it a rest, will ya.

It was 20 years ago and he has payed the price and is still paying it. You bloody well know that, as, judging by your post, you know how crippling trauma can be.

Punishing someone who was drunk on propaganda and false believes about manlyhood decades after the fact, while the real criminals run free, doesn't do anything to make the world a better place.

Sorry, I don't buy that.

The price of that invasion was paid by the tens of thousands of Iraqis killed, the millions displaced, and many more millions subjected to the destruction of their livelihoods, infrastructure, families -- not by the people who flew in to kill and bomb and destroy.

I have no more sympathy for the people who inflicted all that carnage on Iraq than for the murderous scumbags who turned passenger planes into human bombs. That too was more than 20 years ago, and I do hope that you are not going to ask me shrug off the crimes of the surviving members of that gang.
