Seems to be no end of bad news for the Uvalde police- but really, the only thing they deserve is bad news. One of the cops tried going in to save his wife, who said she'd been shot and was dying. The other cops took his gun and detained him.

Speaking to the Texas Senate, the state’s Department of Public Safety director Steve McCraw said Ruben Ruiz had known his wife, Eva Mireles, had been injured by the gunman but that he was forcibly moved away from the classroom in which she was trapped. “We got an officer whose wife called him and said she’d been shot and she’s dying,” McCraw said. “He tried to move forward into the hallway. He was detained, and they took his gun away from him and escorted him off the scene

Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. I am going to guess that none of these guys had ever faced a shooter they had as much firepower as they did - that goes through walls and some body armor.

Lots of blame to be spread around but the bottom line is: If the guy didn't have a state of the art tool designed to kill people as efficiently as possible they might not have hunkered down for an hour. At Beto's rally last week he laid out some gun reforms which did require these tools to be restricted for purchase. Standing ovation for that. Sooner or later these weapons have to be removed from our society as there will reach a point one day when a majority of us go enough is enough. Fuck the fucking NRA.

The journalism up-thread that states cops received 911 call from kids inside pleading for help 40 mins after shooting started. And the feckless local PD still refused to breach. It took Border Patrol ignoring the order to stand down to take the shooter out.

You might want to read a bit more before continuing to make excuses. The reality to every "reasonable excuse scenario" you offer has turned out to be far worse- more cowardly- more incompetent with mistakes that baffle other LE- but not you.
It's not making excuses for the cops, it's pointing out how shallow and unfair the first reporting was, and how easily y'all were turned into haters by the media. Watch out for cable news reporting on things other than politics these days, their expertise is questionable in many things and they don't recognize that.

Well if you thought the initial reporting was “SO UNFAIR” ( you voted for Trump?). I hate to think what you feel about the rest of the reporting which is deservingly even more critical.

I have serious doubts that you (as in the guy behind this new "Mark_K" persona) actually are the same person as the now defunct and indeed missing @Mark K .

The shit bubbling out of your keyboard is irritatingly close to TFG-ish word salad and way below the least of the missing Mark K's posts. "y'all" ... "haters" ... "media" ... blah blah blah.

Your apparently false-flag posts make you one of the single most despicable socks in the history of SA and indeed PA. Now kindly go and terminate yourself (which you likely won't) before you end up with a maintained -666 score and heading most everyone's brand spanking new ignore list (I'll settle for that, for now.)

I think that's way over the top and not true. He's making some valid points that almost all early reporting is untrue or usually way dramaticized. But I don't think I would have hitched my wagon to this pony or picked this ditch to die in because almost all reporting and remarks by officials are getting worse and worse. Maybe in this one rare instance, the initial reports of cowardice and incompetence is on the mark.

Despite a few headscratchers...... I don't think it's a sock.

It's because I saw so many things the press was generating outrage about that had other possible reasons for happening than incompetence or cowardice. It's grossly unfair to the guys in the fight to be so quickly judged by a press that has no tactical or operational knowledge.

The case of the outrage about a woman prevented access to rescue her kid. Like there is never supposed to be a cordon around an active shooter scene?

Automatically assuming cowardice for holding back in the corridor. I've shown that even in the manual there is leeway for the OIC to call a barricade situation. The press even reported the guy as saying it had been called, but these clowns remained amazed the crew in the hall could be limited to containment.

Calls they sat there while kids were being slaughtered. To date no timeline charting when the shots were being heard. The barricade call indicates there was a lull. The initial reports said a hell of a lot of firing in the first few minutes and not much after so it was entirely plausible.

I don't get what this anger stems from. Watched the same shit start to go down in the Capital police on 1/6.

Wait for the facts to come out folks. Then judge. Particularly in situations where it's clear the information is jumbled and incomplete (which even now, weeks later, it still is), when the fallout from judgements carry devastating consequences to those who are judged. Just because CNN and FOX agree on something definitely doesn't make it indisputable fact. Most of their people are there to play political pundit games to keep a certain demographic tuned in, the demographic that brings consistent ratings, after all. However the pundits are not broadly educated and are quite ignorant on a great many things....and they are conditioned to seek outrage. It's what pays their bills.

I 100% get all that. I've said similar things in the past as well. But a couple of things stand out...... 1) sometimes ya gotta let people bitch and vent. 2) I doubt any of the posters here live in Uvalde and are going to be harassing the po-Leece over this - so their rush to judgement isn't going to affect anything on the ground there one way or the other. And 3) This is PA.... how long have you been here?

I'm simply just saying I would have said my piece once and then slowly backed out of the room while the monkeys continued flinging their shit.
