The Big Boat Regatta starts today in the Bay Area. Huge turnout for the 105s. The J88s are getting a start, but only one 111 entered. And Merlin comes home.

What's the word on the street?

The SF Bay is the perfect location for the J105.

What's the over/under on number of boats getting sidelined through the weekend due to collision or mast failure?

Big fleet, great conditions ( except sunday when it rained and wind was out of south ), no broken masts, some collisions One dude (who was in a protest every day ) after the set suddenly jibed right in front of us and our pole went through his port pushpit. No one really plays very nice and too much boat to boat BS. The people NEVER say cross and they yell protest at every opportunity even when its not that close. All of the drivers and tacticians should be forced to sail in the finn fleet for a regatta to learn some things. They are perfect boats for the bay. I'll be back next week for the north americans.

Never saying cross is pretty stupid if you think you are going to the favoured side

It's always better at the front of the fleet. Perhaps you should focus on going faster....

lmao welcome to SF. The reason there were only 29 105s on the line is because about 3 or 4 got totaled during the course of this season - one boat actually got written off twice in the same amount of months.
