I am leaving my wife and family due to utter selfishness. But be thats not really the issue. I want to buy a Nacra 20 carbon. I have the money and I finally believe I am worth a great boat. I know that as soon as I buy this Nacra it will lose at least 25% of its value. If I need to sale it. Would it be better to buy a used C2 and go a little slower or is there a new and better catamaran than the Nacra 20 coming out soon. I would gladly settle for a used Nacra 20 but I have not seen one for sale. You guys are the experts! No pity please.

Looking forward to the adventure.

Oh come on guys, give the man a break, he openly says he's a selfish git, but then we all go sailing without our wives and all talk in the bar afterwards of just how our wives are screwing our lives and not giving us enough sailing time. Pot and kettle and black comes to mind.

Come on then answer him without reference to the wife bit. I say if that is what you want and you can afford it without taking out loans on your mums house, then go for it.

It's all a mid-life crisis

Get the biggest flashiest boat that you can afford, but keep the family.

That way, when you get over the m-l c, you just have a boat that is too fast for you to sell to get back to normal!

Where are you? What does everyone else sail? Who are you going to race against on the nacra20c and who one the C2? I'd pick the better racing, doesnt matter the boat.

Ok so you guys are not the experts. I don' want a crew, I can always find some person who wants to go sailing. I love the solitude of sailing and the challenge of sailing by myself. Who cares about racing? Been there done that. BFD! And why would you care about her tits. I would be asking how much money does she make. Yes she is cute, small mellons, healthy and makes over $200,000 a year. Legally. One hell of a sales person in radio advertising. I only bring in abouit $45,000. Also we have over 1.8 million in income producing real estate paid off. I like boats and she does not. I have plenty of used catamarans but goddammit I'm 56 and I want to buy a great boat just once. I have been waiting 18 years and I'm not going to wait any more. So unless yu are a licensed marrige counseler forget it! And you would think that a dealer of Nacra or C2 would jump in on the thread and try to get a potential buyer like me interested in their product but i guess that not important.

If you're not racing, the very small difference between this year's high performance cat and 2002's top performance cat isn't going to mean a whole lot. If you're going to have a lot of time on your hands, are you sure you want a beach cat? For $40k I'd buy a used F24 AND a Weta and you can have beach toy fun or all day cruising fun - either can be single handed if necessary.

if you want to buy a great boat to sail by yourself, buy an A-cat or an F16. The A-cats are more refined, simple, and high tech, the F16s are more beach oriented, have a kite, and still light compared to F18s or the Carbon 20. You can find other threads where the merits of the boats are debated so no need to do that here but both are very worth of consideration for single handing and would be rightable by yourself (the A-cat more so) if you capsize.

I agree with lost on translation.

I sail pretty evenly mixed two up, and singlehanded on a Viper. Singlehanded is an ass load of work with the kite. I'm 31, semi fit, and would not want to sail an carbon 20 alone, (or any 20' beachcat for that matter), just because you'd be over worked, and way overpowered.

I have a Nacra 20 that will be up for sale very soon, not an F-20 carbon but a Nacra/Inter 20. It sounds like you're looking for an F-20 carbon though.

The one on beachcats got snatched up in minutes.

Get the Nacra F20c.. head and shoulders above any F18, F16, or whatever. Better sailing boat, easier to sail, faster and 40+ lbs lighter. One boat to rule them all. The rest are pretenders. Try one out and you will see.

having just gone through separation, buying a new carbon 20 from nacra would be therapuetic to me!!!!

I can sort of understand what you are feeling, and one certainly cant take it with them when the time is up

Go for it mate, get the f20C, you'll love it!!!!

Having sailed many of the above boats nothing can touch the f20c.... Last time I was sailing one we were out in 10-12 knts top speed was 22 knts... If I had the coin id have one parked on my front lawn. A class is probably more sensible tho if you want to sail it by yourself...
