actually I think you are both wrong on this one. I have met a fair share of anarchists up here in VT and I know what they sail. I have yet to meet a person here who doesn't sail, a lot. Watertribers, dinghy people, O.D., big boats, ice boats, RC boats, etc. Most who I have met are passionate sailors. Tom Ray is one, he was at the EC taking pictures at god awful times of the day, not the type of thing you do if you just sit at home. Even being based in VT I have met a surprising amount of posters here. Now, those pics please? Well, once the shit hits the fan anyway.

I get up early anyway. The time didn't bother me, but the temperature sure as heck did!

Oronoco, you may be able to see the boat from a road, but I wanna see the developing cracks in the boat. That's going to require another boat.

More likely that the people cheering HotRod blindly are the ones with less acquaintance with basic nautical facts. I have met several SA'ers in person (as well as a previous wilder USENET forum) and pretty much all of them have poured more seawater out of their shoes than you wanna-bees will ever sail over.

And some of us find deadbeats repugnant. And some of us dislike the idea of dumping trash in the water, even if it includes a donorcycle.

But hey... if HotRod's performance gives you a big wank while fantasizing about running out on your own bills, have at it.

You can see signs he's not sailed offshore, if at all. There are no fiddles or handholds in the interior pic looking aft.

Turn that photo to 20 degrees of tilt and imagine yourself trying to walk through that area when the seas are running.

I've been sailing all my life, over 50 years now. Have you crossed any oceans? Done it as watch captain on a 100 yr old schooner? Conned a destroyer to a successful MOB pick up? How many hurricanes have you anchored in, successfully? :Let's see... oh yeah racing, how many different one-designs have you picked up at least some silver? Raced in regattas of over 100? ... yeah and boatbuilding, how many have you done from scratch? How many 30+' rebuilt structurally?
