EVA foam on the for-deck is down, did it by myself, few moments but ended up great.
Lots of pre, and that probably saved me.
Mast step is also on.
The lumps in the EVA (3 per side) are for the jib track mounts, that will happen tomorrow, right up the front you maybe able to see the jibsheet turning blocks are also in.
Quite a lot of detail in the maststep.
Grommets underneath feed the Outhaul, Downhaul and Vang down under the deck.
Lug on the front center's the Self Tacking jib (M6)
It's a POM (Acetal) mast plug, 3 x M10 CSK MT come up from underneath to hold it.
Hole alloy plate is bolted down with 4 x M8 post screws on a bed of epoxy.

Did EVA foam in my cockpit. Used a home modified picture framing mat board cutter to bevel the edges (only modified to extend the blade length a bit). Beveled edges, especially where adjacent pieces meet, gives it an elegant look without the need to pattern match separate pieces.
Like the A 89, was that painted?

Huge few days while the sun shines
All the EVA is on, Wings obviously are on, jib track, bunch of other fittings are all happening.
Even had a chance to hike her down and its pretty comfortable.
We will really start to pick up the pace now, re ropes and fitting etc.
Foils will be my Achilles heel, just running shy on time.
Fly to Europe 17th.
My eldest sibling/sister, (the really amazing one, that no one knows about) checked out, so off to Canberra, Thursday and Friday this week, (with my younger sister, just older than me), to start that process and her memorial will be 15th October, gives everyone who wants to say something time to get to Canberra so that cuts into valuable rigging and sailing time, but, hell she (Christine) was a amazing girl (as are Nicky and Mark). The boat can wait!

Julian, so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. Boats can definitely wait over being with family.
That is one of the nice things about boats. I dated a woman for years who still is an equestrian. When she complained about my boats, I told her it was fine, we'd just leave it sitting quietly in the yard, no feeding, no watering, no poop to pick up, it will happily sit there until we're ready.

I'm considering using EVA on a new build. What prep for the deck would be best. The construction is plywood-epoxy-fiberglass. Would I need to prime and paint first or can I go directly over the epoxy finish after peel ply is removed. I realize that water ways would need primer and paint.

WCB, she had a extraordinary life, did amazing things, happier going sideways in a car on dirt at +100kph, fully under control, than standing still, no man could keep up with her, she was Mensa, but she loved the fags and her QoL took a hit 2 years ago, so she is in a better place.
Worked for F1, Indy Car, IOC, Paris-Dakau, CSIRO, Dept or Treasury, all as problem solver, no computer problem stood in her way.
So thank-you, she will be missed.
BTW, she was also a bloody good sailor, and grew up with all those boys, inc Mark, Holland, Farr, under the watchful eye of Spencer.

There are EVA's and there are EVA's. Just make sure you use a good one.
You apply it to a non-gel-coat or non-finish-coat surface, so I wet-n-dried epoxy primer with 180g and went straight onto that.
Sure there was top coat that went in 15-20mm at the sides, and that's OK, it has to do with Osmosis.
It's all over the Farr 40 I sail, in the hi-work-load areas and it lasts a good 3-4 years in that capacity.
49er now use it so much so that we may stop non-skidding the areas were they put it.
Weight wise, I imported it, finished, as in shaped and with logos in.
I got 2 sets, as it was almost the same price as 1.
Total weight was 32kgs.
Packing was up around 6, so your down to 26kg.
Therefor one set would weight 13kgs and 1/2 of that is the 3M backing paper, so the actual foam about 7kgs.
You could not do a gel-coat non-skid surface for that weight, and it (gel-coat) would last a year (49er work-wise).
Doubt Polyurethane would last much longer.
Mine is 5mm thick, you can get 3mm and it also works, but I was going for extra comfort.
Feels great under foot.
If you want great non-skid and good quality material, import it and put it on yourself.
If you want really a really hi-end look, then get someone local to do it.

That is a full life...she must have had stories to tell. To be involved in so many cool sports and to be so smart and clearly sought after. Better yet a great sailor. Good for her, I'm glad you get to celebrate her life soon.
@Malaya to add on to what Julian is saying, I'd consider talking with Raptor deck. You can template the areas that you want to cover with the foam, send them the templates and a few weeks later your foam is all cut perfectly for you and ready to install. It takes little time to do that. I've done my Melges 24, my 24' powerboat, and now I have Raptor for my 505. Like Julian said, no more need for non-skid. What was non-skid on the floor of the 505 I am going to paint and leave as smooth as it comes out and then put the Raptor Deck on. Those guys are out of Seattle, WA so relatively close and they're pretty quick. https://raptordeck.com

Scillyjosh, needs to stress mine is functional, I don't care about perfection with stuff like this, so if your a looks man, then get it done in the UK.
But I have this relationship with Sean Lam, he is Hong Kong Chinese, met him sailing B14's maybe 30 - 35 years ago.
The important thing is his mother tongue is Cantonese, and all of industrial Asia speaks technical Cantonese.
He also speaks fluent technical English and Mandarin. He lives in HK, his kids live/ go to school in Vancouver.
For the last 10 - 15 years, he and I have been generating all sort of fittings and he gets them from everywhere from Taiwan through to Malaysia. Some of the stuff he dose for us on the 49er he buys the raw stock, say POM (Acetal) 70mm rod in Japan and has it shipped to Vietnam to be machined.
So if you can generate a DFX or igs file of what you want, he can get it made.
And he can get it made in anything you want, Ti, SS, POM, 3D printed, steel, you name it, he can make it happen.
If you can't do dfx or igs, but can do a "mud-map" he can probably generate a cut-file, you OK it, you get a price and it happens.
