A little cardioversion and the A Fib is under control.  Get on some meds or worse comes to worse, you have a little cardiac ablation and it usually will go away.  

You're in V Fib and somebody isn't ready with a defibrillator, you're gonna die.  And even if you do get shocked, once, twice, thrice, you still have a good chance of dying.

I'll take the former over the latter any day

I worked in enough ERs and trauma centers to see both scenarios many times.  We shocked one dude so many times, his chest was smoking.  OK, we knew he was good and dead after a few shocks, so it became a teaching moment.
