Well, "Creationism" is founded on the idea that God does not intend us to know certain things, and of course it is the Creationist who gets to decide. There's another similar anti-science doctrine that I forget the name of, which is that we're too stupid to understand God's mysteries and should quit trying.

I've debated anti-evolutionists many times including a brief and polite one in a high school classroom this past week; I've never met a single one who actually knew what "evolution" is or grasped that it is as much a working principle of science as gravity.

We used to get the annual Jehovah's Witness visit and I would just say thanks but no thanks.  Then one day I decided to engage in a debate with the young gentleman at the door.  I was polite.  I listened.  I presented facts.

I could see his face change from a guy confident he was doing god's work to a confused and questioning follower.  He walked away looking rather depressed.

I have some friends that emmigrated from Iran to the US in the 90s. Both have PhDs but due to their language limitations had to accept lesser jobs than they would otherwise warrant. They are Bahai faith and left Iran because of religious persecution.

She gave me the very most basic explanation of the foundation of Bahai faith, that God reveals himself to each individual based on that person's ability to comprehend him. Therefore education is a sacrament and a religious obligation. That's why they were persecuted by Muslims in Iran.

That was the first potential benefit of religion I'd ever heard.

I accidentally did similar with a smart, articulate, confident, teenaged family friend who is Mormon.  She started shaking and I felt bad for missing the mark.

My SO read me something from the Internet where the author said we need to have everyone stop talking about their spouse, stop using gender pronouns, have pro-gay parents sue teachers for talking about straight marriage and basically turn that whole ridiculous bill right back on the idiots.

A somewhat relevant fact...

Benny Goodman, the famous clarinet player and big band leader/composer, was a follower of the Bahai faith. This ends my understanding of the faith. I do respect Benny Goodman's musicianship .

It is interesting to me Goodman left one persecuted religious group to join another.
