No, it was the coating on a brick of Nepalese hash. It wasn't bowl scrapings.

Our next door neighbor growing up had a patch of poppies and they would weep or burst iirc. He was in his 90’s in the early 70’s, so I don’t think he was using them(maybe 1900’s medicinal). Opium is derived from poppies just like heroin, hence the easy addiction. I don’t know how they produce it.

Hash is the heated and compressed fine thc dust called keif. The pot growers process their crops over fine screens and when they have collected enough keif, they put it in a jeweler’s press, which is heated and pressed into the bricks that you know as hashish. They were a popular import from Afghanistan before I was aware of what drugs were.

A friends mother once had a visit from the police about the white poppies she was growing.

She had no idea - she just thought they were pretty.

But her son did. :D
Small town I grew up iin had a police department of 3 officers and 1 car.  The department office was in the basement of the "town hall", which was a townhouse.

The garden in front of the town hall was frequently found to be hosting some impressively tall plants of marijuana.  Even though the statute of limitations has expired, I will not confirm my friend Eric was responsible.
