If the recommendation from the CDC and various health agencies was to simply wear a "silly paper mask", you might have a point.

When this thing hit our shores, that is all that was available. Dr. Fauci asked folks to not buy all of them, so as to have a supply for healthcare workers.

As we learned more (which is kinda the idea behind "science") we stopped wiping down our produce and looked to more effective masks. It took time, but N95 and KN95 masks were made available. They are far more effective than paper surgical masks.

If you know someone who struggled to breathe before dying of this disease, you do their memory a disservice by taking this bullshit stance.

I know personally examples of 2 or more under the same roof, one had Covid and the others didn’t catch it.
The statistics show that the rate of infection was no different from states with extreme masking and other restrictions faired no better than states, like Florida that had more common sense personal decision making whether to wear a mask or not. Florida schools opened in August after the first year.
The inoculation showed it did not prevent anyone from catching the virus.
