Democrats are very nervous about President Joe Biden. They like the guy. They celebrate what he has accomplished during his first two years as president. But they wonder about tying their fortunes in the 2024 election to a man who would be 82 years old at his second inauguration.
Biden must be annoyed by this. You can imagine him saying, “Folks, what more do you want from me? Has any president done as much since FDR? Too old? Give me a break.”
If accomplishments were all that counted, Biden would have a lock on the Democratic nomination and probably on a second term in the White House.
When he came into office, the COVID-19 pandemic was crushing the economy and killing jobs. A lot of people were on the edge of financial ruin. Biden pushed through a $1.9 trillion aid package that provided loans for struggling small businesses, reinvigorated federal unemployment benefits, and sent direct payments to millions of Americans — enough money to nearly eliminate childhood poverty.
Then, he got Congress to pass his infrastructure bill that provides billions of dollars to finally fix America’s long-deteriorating roads and bridges, replace lead pipes, upgrade airports and shipping ports, boost public transit and extend broadband access to every corner of the country. The measure also makes a huge investment in clean energy, including money to deal with the wildfires, droughts and floods that are being supersized by climate change.
On the world stage, Biden got the United States back to its traditional leadership role. He rejoined the Paris Climate Accords and recommitted to the NATO alliance. Most crucially, the president has pulled together — and held together — an alliance of democratic nations to support Ukraine in that country’s fight to repel a ruthless Russian invasion.

Fox News host Emily Compagno said that the United States needs a "fortified boundary" or another type of wall on the northern border with Canada.
During a panel discussion on the Fox News Outnumbered program, Compagno pointed to news that illegal northern border crossings had doubled in recent years.
"Just focusing back on the northern border," she said. "You know it's a misnomer when people say now the drugs are coming from Canada. We have 150 countries represented by the millions of illegal immigrants flooding over the southern border. Canada is no different."
"I wonder what the name will be of the soldier who dies trying to save someone at the northern border," she continued. "And I have to point out, every forward operating base and FOB that we've been to in Iraq and the like, every full-operational military base in foreign soil and here in this country, right?"
She added: "They have a boundary; they have a fortified boundary. So why is it that in our homeland, in our home soil, our borders, northern now and southern, are absolutely open? It's preposterous. And it's because not only weak policies but, unfortunately, a weak president."

The vast majority of illegal crossings of the Canada/US border are northbound. Whole families have frozen to death trying to get out of the States on the Prairies. Then add in the gun and drug smugglers - also northbound.

Can we talk about the shrubbery we have been growing since Trump times to keep the Americans out? I know at one time it was top secret but then they sent everyone a copy with their carbon tax rebate cheques. It is doing well along most of the border, but the aquatic shrubs in water bits are still not up to snuff.
It's the salt water. We just need to keep the salt out of the water so the shrubs can thrive. Ottawa needs to do more to make our oceans salt-free.
