The reason it's confusing, is the image is incorrect. In 2023, we don't use physical media anymore. Sure, a tiny minority still use vinyl but they did in '83 and '03 too.

Vinyl is making a huge resurgence. It started its decline in 1983 when the CD came out. Now there are all sorts of re- and new releases on vinyl, there aren't enough pressers to keep up with demand.
