The satellite temperature record which is our most accurate method shows a short term decline in recent years and about .5 degrees of warming in the last 40 years. Most of that .5 degrees of warming occuring in the 80's and 90's. Since then trend has been flat (what the alarmist call the hiatus now about 20 years old).
