Why? Why does the Alerion series have a good appeal? I said CCA era, I did not mean to try and revamp that rule. Strictly take a hull shape from that era, because I think they have very nice lines and run it through the WLYDO by updating below the waterline and interior layouts. Maybe go for a strict day sailor versus cruiser.

I'll go away now.
Short water lines and long overhangs do nothing for me

Don't forget plenty of room to store kayaks, surfboards, dive gear, bicycles, dinghies, etc. So we don't need to hang all that crap on the back. You know... Something bigger on the inside than on the outside. Like a Tardis.

Ease the sheet.

My suggestion is a boat for me.

Those with brown paper bags full of money will be welcome to post in the accompanying thread. After I count the money. .......

I could see that but it would be hard to improve on that one. Maybe a longer tiller?

That's a beauty.

modern underbody and a strip or cold molded hull encased in glass. real wood boats give me the heebie jeebies.

YW ad says the boat is a "Juno Sloop"

"Ikiru"

Built and launched in Sweden, Originally named "Kristine II". Sailed on her own keel to the East Coast of the USA in the early '80s. The second owner sailed her to the Caribbean, down to Brazil and 500 miles up the Amazon. By the early '90s she was back in the Northeast. Trucked to San Diego, she has lived in San Francisco and currently in Marina Del Rey.

I'd love something in the mid 50's, with dashing IOR looks, but modern performance, with a custom layout of my dreams.
Now you're talking!

More like 42' though - Two Tonner size. Mid 50's is just too big for me.

Actually, I think I'd be pretty happy with your current boat - but not with the grand a month it would cost me to park it here.

(If I could even find a berth that size).

I'm sorry, IOR boats are generally, not all that attractive, with a few exceptions.

Back to that Style Appreciation class with you.

With a few exceptions, IOR boats were some of the best and raciest looking boats ever. Compared to the later "Running Shoe" design trend and the current "Cheese Wedge" look, they are downright classic works of art.

Bob there are some truly awesome 30-40 footers today. I find my self wondering what the Millenials will car top, or nest on the tent trailer. And make new generations of sailors with? I like the PT11 nesting dinghy but its too small to day cruise with 4. Too small to do a lake water access camping trip.

The Swallow BayRaider 20 and Expedition Bay Raider 20 are very interesting. But a 17-18ft nesting version of a PT 11 with a modern design would really be interesting.

The Millenials catch allot of crap. My brother is one. But I will say that their timing to start a typical career was when our economy was in the black tank. Those that were solid workers were given 5x the work and not promoted because the companies and managers needed someone to do the work. They got paid crap too.

Today My brother and all of his college friends run multiple businesses they created to make ends meet. All of them by design do not accept traditional promotions because they got crapped on for too long. These kids are packing Law Degrees, Medical Degrees, etc. They dont accept the old BS tow the line crap. They make their own way.

I can see a resurgence in small multi use family boats being very popular with them. But very few will ever even think of a 30-40 footer given most are only now building equity, savings, 401ks etc at 30-35yrs of age.

I'd like the see a kick-ass double handed world cruiser. One that takes advantage of everything we've learned over the past 40 years. Something as practical, but not as ugly as a Alubat. One that can reel off the miles on passage upwind as well as down that's not a penalty box an anchor. One that forbids crap on the back, but can carry proper anchor gear without loading down the ends, where access to all the key bits is back-pain free. One where I can get below and hang up my foulies without wetting the entire cabin.

The non-adventure 40. Everything goes as it should.

Is that too much to ask?
