The name chosen for ITA 45 (and for all subsequent ones) was Luna Rossa. The official story tells how the name was born in the mind of Patrizio Bertelli from the rising of a large reddish full moon on a summer evening during a dinner spent talking about boats in the Tirli hills near Punta Ala. Miuccia Prada tells how the name Luna Rossa was perfect to contrast with Black Magic, the defender. Only later did we remember the Neapolitan song of the same name composed in 1950 by Vian and De Crescenzo which, reworked in a modern key by Renzo Arbore, followed the boat in its southern adventures.Luna Rossa means Red Moon, any italian friends explain the significance or meaning if any?
