Today was originally 120 hours from ‘the first scheduled race day’ and so the measurement freeze is/was due. I see a few posts above about this, but has it been determined yet (and agreed to yet by the teams) if the Measurement deadline is being (indefinitely) extended? Is ‘first scheduled race date’ a term they agree to change, wrt this?

What if one team measures in today, but the other does not?

You imagine common sense will prevail and that ACE will have discussed with both teams and come to some kind of agreement that 120 hours will now start from 10th.

It might not be public information unless someone asks in an interview

Princess I am sure life on Waiheke is beautiful. i suggest you spend some time at night in Sth Auckland in Otara, Papatoetoe, Manukau, Otahuhu, Papakura, Wiri, Manurewa and see what really happens in Sth Akl before you call me a racist. Sure they are not all PI or Maori but get off your fucking high horse and spend a night there. Family of mine work there as police officers so let's just say my information is a bit more factual and realistic. Have a great Covid free evening (why don't you stop the ferrries and then you are guaranteed to be safe and save a natural treasure of NZ, Brad Butterworth stay alive from this lethal flu?)
Lived and worked there for nigh on 5 years.

As said before the 2,5 M figure is not valid as it includes a lot of other causes, it also does not specify that we did not have the flu victims this year. A better indicator is the excess mortality rate, which is real in some countries at some period of time, but minor on a year basis at the world level.
Certainly not minor in the UK despite the fact we’ve been in lockdown for nearly a year now.

Winter lockdowns didn't work in the US.  I verified this was CDC deaths/1M by state.  What States did/did not lockdown this winter was subjective but seems to be accurate.

Bottom line....there was almost no statistical difference between locking down and not.  Lockdowns do have a significant economic penalty though.

Yellow bars are mean for no lockdown on left and mean for lockdown on right.

I'm also not saying you country would show the same results.  Just food for thought.

I don't think Tornado-Cat and The Advocate realize the thing they're wearing is a tinfoil hat, not a crown. Nothing to be proud of. I promised myself not to bother with this, there is an old Spanish proverb "He who washes an asses head loses both his time and the soap", but (to quote the Advocate here) fuckwits just like them are the reason why we're looking at a bodycount of half a million here in the states. I don't know where the rot started, maybe a failure in the school system to provide critical thinking skills and understanding of basic science literacy, but here we are. Documenting one's sources, not bothering with sentences that are constructed of "I've heard" + any convenient anecdote buttressing one's argument, none of this matters to this crowd. I am envious of NZ for having a government, however imperfect at times it may be, that actually gives a shit about the safety of all, and applies the best available knowledge to address the problem. Here in the US of A we lacked this element these past four years, all the while the tinfoil hat crowd was worked to a froth by the ignoranus-in-chief.

I assume we're all sailors here, and some amount of critical thinking, knowledge of physics, and a certain scientific mindset goes a long way in helping us go around faster around a race course or get us safely across oceans. How about it T-C and TA? Apply that part of your brain to the pandemic issues as well?

"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities"

                                                                                                                         -Voltaire
I'll just quote this lovely prose, thx.

..after almost a year of trying to get a good mate to believe a: Covid is real, b: the trump will leave office, and c: the earth is round, the only wager I won a case of beer on was the trump leaving. It's truly amazing and indicative of the shrwedness of the media to foster a doubt and then amplify and work on that fissure.

Normally I am in the habit of saying once: Yur a fucking idiot...and letting it go because I am convinced that once the fissures have been opened there's no way to put humpty together again, and as you say I'm out of free soap I use it on my hands.

Yes, hopefully the sense will be ‘common.’

Having to measure-in 5 days ahead has always struck me as a monumentally stupid rule but if today is still the date, because the teams can’t agree on changing ‘first scheduled day’? Yikes, it gets even worse! Geez... Here’s hoping.

Still nothing on the notice board, even in relation to the postponed racing. Weird.

Very flawed statistical study...

If not lockdown what do you think reversed the two lift offs around May and this month in the UK charts? Switching the 5g signal off?

Thanks for checking. The measurement date was the very first thing that crossed my mind when seeing that the Match will be delayed, I hope that date slides too by agreement.

I love the way some people automatically portray people that don't see things the way they do as tin foil hat conspiracy theorists. Usually goes along with claiming to be critical thinkers whilst the others quite simply can't be LOL.

If we stay in Level 3 without government exemptions, then is possible there will be no racing before the deadline is up, at that point ETNZ retains the cup.

LR wanted to race the Prada Cup in level 2, but they really had no power to bring those races into reality, other than to say if those races didn't take place before the original deadline, then they would declare themselves the winner as per the original schedule.

This time round, they are on the receiving end of this deadline situation should ETNZ decide to play the same way... but hey live by the sword...
... the only difference being PRADA Cup was well under way, while AC has not even started yet.

So you will be able to celebrate a "Non Sporting Event" and "retain the Cup"  ...

you must be mighty proud to be a "winner" without doing ANYTHING ....  :(

All good. I have come across some stuff that I think might explain the dual OCS penalties but I want to think about that one a bit first before I decide my opinion.

Q&A can be found here:

Of note is that it uses the previous RRSAC but that doesn't automatically invalidate it.

Interested to here what others think its influence might be.
