Airmar DS810 won't seat?

I've got an Airmar DS810 hull transducer. It seems no matter what I try, I can't get it to seat all the way - there's about 5mm to go before it's flush to the outside of the hull fitting. Used the lube it came with etc.

Anyone else have this issue? Am I missing something? Doesn't seem like it should be this difficult.

Ah good to know. I installed the new through-hull that it came with, but I wonder if the slightly smaller o ring will help anyway (and not cause a leak). That's the yellow one?

The transducer and thru hull are a matched set

double check that you aren’t doing something “ stupid “

if your housing has the valve, use the yellow ring. if it doesn't have a valve, use the black ring. I had some trouble getting mine to seat in a re-used housing, it took some wiggling to get it flush, not because it was stuck but there was a definite stop in the progression. there was a very specific amount of movement to get it to move the last few mm.

Well, stupid may have been the cause after-all. I don't know why, but today I pulled it out, had a look, confirmed I had the yellow o-ring, put it back and it sits flush now. No clue what could be different is was so hard before. Maybe one last go at moving it around spread the grease better.

Shrug. Thanks to all.

Many things are like that
It doesn’t work, you have another look, it doesn’t work

You call it a day , comeback in the morning and the stupid mistake becomes obvious

I’m particularly bad with electrical drawings
Ill look for hours, can’t find it … come back in the morning and the dead circuit jumps out right before my eyes

Hate to say…I have been flummoxed by the helpful arrow on the transducer. Is it flow or forward? Which way is forward when head down in the bilge flying over waves, anyway? Should paint an arrow next to it. And the little tab can be obstinate regarding engaging with its slot.
