Needed to be compliant with the new rules when they were announced. There was no time given for anyone to make a break for it. Sadly it also stopped any new guys from joining another team.
But, as the fanboys here repeatedly point out, the priority is winning. If that means tying people in or stopping the up coming youngsters, who cares. Win at all costs.
Exactly, so why have your name tied to the present acts, ones that many find dispicable, when you have other prizes to go for.

However they said they would like it to do it in an IMOCA Class. Problem is: There is no IMOCA NZL Entry!
Why is that a problem? They are pro sailors and will sailor whoever gives them the best deal. Likely a combination of money and potential prize.

We will see for how long? With Schneiter taking over the Swiss SailGP Team certainly puts an end to Realteam & Team Tilt. I doubt Schneiter has the ability to compete on the GC32 & SailGP simultanously.

Like a lot of people who used to populate this forum from about 2000 until probably when Coutts took the event to Bermuda, little by little the essence of the Americas Cup has been stolen by those who only care about making money. I didn’t much like the move to cats because the racing just isn’t as interesting as monohulls. Then Dalton comes up with a boat that makes zero sense, no one wants to play, and so I lost interest. Top it off with the likes of ForHisTinyCock DGFanBoi and this place became uninteresting and unreadable. I saw something about Ernesto coming back so checked in, because that’s exactly what tte AC needs right now, some real drama and a guy who has proven to enjoy fucking over kiwis really hard. I’m hoping someone sues in NYS Supreme Court if for no other reason than to make RNZYS go through that expense and agony. Maybe the biggest legal loser in AC history, Hamish Ross, will sue RNZYS, I’d love to see some real kiwi on kiwi hate happen.
My fundamental problem with too many kiwis, especially a few on this site, is the constant reminder of how utterly insecure you are as a nation. The reaction of too many kiwis in this place is proof positive that you think winning and keeping the Cup at all costs is somehow noble, when in reality you all look like a bunch of weak little pieces of shit. Fucking just man up with a decent boat design and let anyone come race. The rules to preclude an open competition tells us everything we need to know about Dalton and his greedy self. Sure, he’s the most successful guy in terms of selling sailing sponsorship ever in the history of the sport, but, he could not have done that without government subsidy. So basically he’s fucking over the country that got him to where he is today, and he has not an ounce of grace in his body such that he has to design an event where there is about zero chance for anyone new to be competitive let alone win. If the members of RNZYS think their club looks good to anyone who knows anything they are sadly mistaken. You all look like a bunch of massively insecure junior high school girls with Dalton being the queen bitch mean girl.
As fas the way I speak in this particular forum, this is the only place I speak that way, mostly because it seems too many of the kiwis here only understand being spoken too like the weak pieces of shit you are.
I used to think the America’s Cup represented the best of the sport. Sadly, it no longer does. Taking it to Bermuda was a huge mistake, and the freak boat is just pathetic. Now Dalton fucking over NZL is actually glorious to me, he’ll be a pariah to a huge percentage of the country if he sells the event to the highest bidder.

This is where he has drunk his own coolaid for too long and underestimated the backlash for his choices. It is a huge percentage that is pissed off with his auctioning off the event. A further problem will be if he fails to achieve a half decent offer and needs to come back, hat in hand, pretending he never meant to leave at all. It was all just a big joke and Auckland is the best place to hold it ever. Yeah, right. Kiwis don't appreciate being shit on by a team they were once proud of.

Summer festivals are being cancelled, concerts are being cancelled or delayed at least 12 months, Kiwi sports teams are either basing themselves overseas, or spending months abroad because they can't get home due to the lack of MIQ spaces available, Kiwi citizens are stranded overseas for the same reason, and here you are moaning about the unlikelihood of a home defence.
There's no difference between Team NZ Challenging overseas or defending overseas. The fact is the cup returns to NZ, and stays here in NZ until someone beats us. Its only the regatta being held overseas. We've had 2 defences here already. Kiwi's know and understand the effect Covid 19 has had on upcoming events. Because of this, those who support the team understand the reason why it is unlikely to be defended here.
Only those who never really supported the team are kicking up a fuss about it. But they're also the ones who have in the past, and will again, moan about it being held here too because its a waste of taxpayers money. They don't matter.
