I'm sure Tom Slingsby doesn't like his options. He looked good at Moth worlds, pity he can't play here.

Only guy with a few choices is Goodie, he has three (maybe four) possibilities. Most sailors have one, or none at all.
So the AC is supposed write its rules around one sailor?

He has options, but you can't blame Team NZ because Slingsby doesn't "like" those options. You have options, either take them or shut up.

Tom has many options, not be involved like last time, convince Australian backers to challenge, he could've moved to Italy with Jimmy, or the UK with Joey Newton, or NZ with Nathan Outteridge, but he did none of those, which is his choice, but you can't blame the current defender because Tom Slingsby wasn't as determined to be involved as guys like Jimmy Spithill, Joey Newton and Nathan Outteridge.

Wrong! What choices does Paul Goodison have, tell us? The only two Options he has is American Magic (because he worked for them in Auckland 2021) and INEOS Britannia (because he has a British Passport).

There ain't too many other Options as you're claiming.

Google indicates his wife may be Italian, so perhaps he's eligible for an Italian passport.

Edit: forgot to add that perhaps the fourth is meant to be ETNZ because of the long stint spent in NZ.

With the current state of play my money is on Alinghi. BB after all this time still has inside info on the defender that will be useful.
Another reason for Alinghi's entry being fun is that BB character, for sure :)

I expect he will not be in Geneva for the shindig on Tuesday (MIQ..) but maybe on video from NZ.

Yes I really enjoys his commentary with PJM on Newstalkzb.
Smart and entertaining guy for sure.

During a DoG Match presser in Valencia (someone let me in, I forget her name but she was cool) BB was on a chair next to EB, stage right, and the press were asking 'What the hell happened in Race 1??" and EB said something diplomatic about conditions and such and then when the mike went to BB he said something blatantly honest like "Did you see what th happened on the overtake? They just sailed that last beat tack into to the top mark a lot higher and faster than we could!"

edit: JK called that tack from waaaay out and it paid, perfectly.

The new Team is called Alinghi Red Bull Racing.

Now that he actually won something Christian Horner who was present at the Media Conference of the SNG wasted no time taking a dig at Mercedes.

Proof how unlikeable the guy is!

Good morning all,

Here my notes out of today's presser. It was all rather generic - as expected - but some nuggets may be found.

On stage were:
Pierre Girod, Commodore SNG
Axel Meyer, Vice-Commodore SNG
EB
BB
Hans-Peter Steinacher (Alinghi Red Bull Racing)
Arno Psarofaghis: sailor
Bryan Mettraux: sailor
Slivio Arrivabene (Co-general manager, head of technical operations)
Pierre-Yves Jorand (Co-general manager, head of sports)
Christian Horner via video

- The team will be "Alinghi Red Bull Racing"

- Team will be announced later

Protocol/venue:

- Switzerland is no emerging nation according to the protocol

- EB: Happy if AC in NZ, but ready so sail anywhere

AC37:

- What has caused you to re-enter this time?
Time was not right before, it clicked when EB saw the new AC75 boats racing, saw the potential in technology, fast foiling and match racing; EB met Dietrich Mateschitz, both agreed on partnership

- EB: in the last years they were racing fast foiling boats on lake with new generation of Swiss sailors, team capable to compete at the highest level, plenty of talent in Switzerland

- BB: starting from scratch, but great group, strength of team is in people; Role of BB: support of Alinghi, bring old school into new world

Formula 1:

- Christian Horner: Dietrich Mateschitz made connection, said how can we help Alinghi? Adrian Newey to focus on F1 car, but his tech team will be fully involved; same tools and processes in AC as in F1

- What do you expect to gain from the F1 tie-up?
Technology, strategy, tactics, take F1 DNA and use it on the boat

- Arrivabene: Team w/o F1 support can still win the Cup, ETNZ proved it

The team:

- 120 people on team

- Built facilities and base are installed in Alinghi's historic place in Ecublens

- Psarofaghis: A new SGP involvement is under investigation, training plan for this winter is available but not to be communicated

- BB re. cyclists: There are plenty of cyclists in Switzerland  ;)

- EB: Hope, not to have to use lawyers, (ha... ha... ha, lame question by someone in the room)

- EB: Not talking about budget, but feel well resourced

- EB not on the boat! But on board for training reasons, if required

I for one have softened my harsh viewpoint on Ernesto since AC33.

Great to have him (and his $$$$$) back, and more importantly we will see a fully swiss team which was not possible in AC31

I see some cycling talent being involved, even if just for exposure there's some great riders both current and recent retired.

Bold.: Haha, I feel the same, and I feel bad for it. But time is a healer, as they say.
