Since Slingsby turned down the Alinghi offer to help train them up and has signed with AM where, as a US citizen he has the chance to do more there, Alinghi has signed DB instead.

I guess we’re not gonna hear the “Team NZ has a huge advantage” tagline now, since Team NZ are arguably in the worst position of all teams now.
Why? They have a larger budget than they tried to get had they stayed home, they chose to accept the location, all Seems they got exactly what they wanted doesn’t it?

stop building in excuses;-)

Not exactly what they wanted, JAL. They got a great hosting fee, but had to give up so called, 'home advantage'. ;-)

sportingwise the best in the world in their chosen field face this every 4 years at the olympics so other than continental flatulence over the matter the world rolls on
Not a valid comparison as competitors in the Olympics have zero input into where the Games will be held.

What price is that? Probably  the gap between what they wanted and what they got.

everyone has a price, and if you accept what’s offered then it’s a bit late to bleat about what you just sold, in this case “home advantage”

let the squirming commence

With events that have a prescribed set of rules.. the 100m doesn’t suddenly become the 124m does it.

There is no proof that he has signed up with AM just yet. They haven't announced anything. Stop reporting misinformation.

I just don't think Slingsby will give up SailGP for American Magic. Terry Hutchinson made it apparently pretty clear to him from what I've heard it is either SailGP or the AC but not both.

Stop reporting misinformation…. You haven't heard fuck all about anything terry could have said about ac/sail gp commitments to Slingsby

Great to see that Dean may have another opportunity training up some new AC athletes.  Dean struggled in the starts, struggled with the handling of the boat, capsized an AC75 and didn't win a single race that actually mattered.  Barker/Botin/Arrivabene - It doesn't sound strong BUT maybe THutch was holding them back or just f'ing everything up.

Slingsby - he will land somewhere at some point.  Maybe he will be someone's May Day Basket

@Chobani Sailor

To be perfectly honest with you I personally have a massive problem with Tom Slingsby driving an AC75. As illustrated in SailGP Slingsby is someone who very much thrives on adrenaline. That is dangerous when driving a Monster like the AC75 are and could lead to the same catastrophic capsize American Magic had in Auckland.

You need to become more measured when driving these Boats! As a Driver you bear huge responsibility for safety of your crew.

Didn't you realize he, plus all the other winners, get to the top by being measured in their sailing. :lol:

Jimmy is the best thing to happen to Prada, they have got some mongrel in their attitude and it shows.

So true, with Bruni to bring reason. Great combo in my opinion.

Yep. All they need is a quick  the quickest boat.
