Lol. I bet if you searched this forum for posts that include the word 'hater' then 4 would dominate the results :D  Sure, delete 'em all, who the F cares since they are invisible to so many of us anyway
Is there a way to find out how many people have 4, and DG, on ignore?  Would be interesting to see where they both rank in terms of people actively not wanting to see their content.

Who cares? Why you seek the adoration of anonymous internet avatars to make yourself feel better about yourself is quite frankly, ridiculous.

Funny, good question.

I have maybe 6 folks (most of them folks who post only hatred with nothing useful to add, and most of them NZers) on ignore, you may be able to see which ones on my profile; but I have no idea if the forum provides what you are asking to see. My guess is that 4 has been at the top of the list for years already, for all the obvious reasons.

I would love for this forum to maintain the value it has had for as long as I have been here; would love for it to get even richer as we approach AC37. A few posters have backed down for now (nothing going on since after the venue mystery got resolved) and the few I have contacted promised they will be back. Intelligent, smart, funny, close-following people are what make this forum valuable. Yes, pointing out dumbasses is part of it too but anyway :D

I far prefer the folks here to anything I see on FB groups, the crowd here is opinionated too but far better-informed. DG keep trying to have that FB audience, who cares  :D  Ignored him and 4 there too, a complete waste of space.

We see the world generally the same. I follow a lot of sailing on fb, but there is zero Americas cup in it. I’d have no idea who 4 or DG are, and I hope I never find out. There really isn’t much of substance to be discussed yet, at least not until somebody starts sailing something. I doubt we’ll see anything of any build in progress. If they were smart, they’d require the teams post build progress photos. It’s just more sponsor fulfillment. Keeps the conversation going. Look at the way the nfl does stuff. They’ve made a tv show out of the draft.

Funny, I watched some of the mostly-meaningless NFL Draft over the past 3 days filmed from in Vegas and yes, it's crazy how much hype it got.

May have mentioned hearing something on a radio segment yesterday about F1's Drive to Survive (on Netflix) and how they analyzed Netflix viewers into clusters and targeted the larger ones, with a lot of success. Gamers, Soap-Opera drama types, etc. F1 is now waaaay bigger in the US than before, fans who never knew anything about F1 before are booking out events in LV and Miami, people you would never have expected to be interested in anything-cars before that show.

A big part of D2S is the drama and the personalities. They mentioned the captivating tension between the drivers Hamilton, VerS and others but also between the Mercedes head-tech guy and the Red Bull tech guy (Horner, and .. help me here?) as being big hooks.

Anyway, it makes me wonder who in the AC game they may be able to turn into big media assets. JS is great on TV, maybe TS will be too, plus the obvious EB personality but... is there enough to create a show that deep? Is G Darth Vader going to be a thing? What does GD V wear for the TV role? :D  Should PB lose a left front tooth as part of his contract? :D

It would depend who is the producer. If it’s Dalton, it will be a homage to guys dressed in all black, with crossed arms and sullen scowls, so it would only draw an audience of only 4 like guys, bitter, angry, insecure kiwis. Get Megan Ellison to produce and see what happens. She’s made more than a few hit movies.

Too funny!

I'm not kidding, heard an hour-long show on NPR about D2S and what its effect has been, I was multi-tasking but from the parts I did pay attention to the subject was pretty amazing. Personalities are far more important than the races and F1 does have them. The lady who produced the show did admit that after hearing about some guy hitting a wall in Bahrain (was it?) at 160 mph causing a massive explosion did prompt her to go learn about the tech that enabled him to somehow survive, with only burns to his hands. She is now hooked.

Romain Grosjean, right into armco barrier at 200kph, car torn in half, huge fire, all the sudden see driver climbing the barrier out of the flames.

I've zero interest in the consumption of this 'social voyeurism media' of F1, or indeed in yachting, as appears to be intended. Just sayin.

If they produce a show remotely close to as good as what D2S apparently is, then I will watch. And maybe make mercilessly good fun of it, if the voyeurism deserves that :)

My guess is that it will be tied into the new Shared Recon thing, so maybe there is hope for some entertainment from on that aspect of it.

F1 has around 20 races per year to enable people to see the DtS show, get interested and watch the real thing.

The AC has to get people interested in something that is over a year out, then is done and dusted in a month. Plus most people understand the basics of driving, so it is easy to feel a bit of awe for what the F1 boys do. Sailing, even most sailors have no real understanding of driving with more buttons on your helm tan the tv remote and the trim being done with a playstation controller.

The show is a vain attempt to create interest in what is basically uninteresting for three and a half years out of four. The only reason to try it is if the aim is to put a value on the event that can be sold on to some group like the F1 owners. Turn the whole thing into a monthly event where the actual cup never has time to even get to the winners trophy cabinet before it is off to the next one.

It’s Pinot time.
After months of feasting on UKR porn and becoming expert on all things Russian, UKR, weapons and surrender/don’t surrender, Spinbot stumbled over Drive to Survive and has now become the expert on all things F1 and it’s promotion.
DtS is in its 5th season. and Indy Car, MotoGP, World SuperBike have all rolled out their own versions of DtS with some success, I expect he will discover them in the next few days..

spinbot will not have figured out yet that DtS is unwatatchable  to anyone who knows anything about F1 but he’s got a couple of weeks spinning it up here to figure it out.

Wanker…

Reasonable, I have never seen the program in question but I do watch the occasional F1 race if the weather is bad. I tried to watch the SailGP program but it seemed like a lot of pretend drama between a bunch of guys I suspect are likely friends.

I did enjoy watching the last AC despite the awful time offset.

There are a number of reports that show that D2S is responsible for increasing the viewership of F1 in the under 35 age group by a huge percentage. I think aiming to do the same with AC, is just about that, trying to reach a younger audience, and can only be a good thing.

I think the SailGP "Racing On the Edge" is a good Series. If the AC can take a Playbook out of this it's going to be good.

The fact of the matter is, call me what ever stupid little childish insult you want, but i'm one of the ONLY people on here who is invested in my team, and therefor, the outcome of the next AC, literally and metaphorically.

I have supported the same team since their inception in 87. Spent my own time and money to support Team NZ. Like English football fans, Kiwi sports fans are intensely loyal toward our teams. Whether domestically or internationally, you pick a team, and you stay loyal to the end.

I don't care about what Dalton does in his spare time, and neither should anyone on here. I don't care if he f**ked the girlfriend of a team mate. As long as it is consensual, who gives a f*ck!?

Most on here who disagree with Dalts, for what ever reason, do so, based on nothing but made up, fake, defamatory conspiracy theories pushed by people like Stingray who likes to present himself as some kind of sailing wise man that people should believe when he speaks, when in fact, most of his tin pot theories are absolute rubbish.

Dalton has achieved what very few people in the world have achieved. He has the loyalty of his team, his sponsors and his supporters. He brought a team from the brink of collapse, to being the most dominant AC team in the last 40 years. For that, he deserves EVERYONES respect.
