yes, the sea state looks like it will be playing a part and none of the Alinghi videos have been "race zone" close to shore yet either.
They did yesterday but it wasn't exactly perfect out there

^ doesn't bode well for AC37 given this is early October.

Twinned with the small J4 jib today, the Swiss sailed in mean winds of 14 knots and gusts up to 18-20 knots with a heavy seaway combining natural swell and a short, sharp 1.5m chop just off the Barcelona beachfront.

Well, I think we can all agree TE was wrong again when he spent countless hours moaning about there not being enough wind.

I don't recall him remarking on that, but maybe he did. The guy lived down the coast in Valencia for several years and probably is familiar Sep/Oct conditions on that coast. But TE is not really the point, is it?

There have been many-many posts here about Barcelona as a sailing venue that time of year, especially the sea state. The vid above makes it look pretty chaotic, hard to handle for even AC75 V2s with the slightly longer foil arms this time.

Anyone ever heard of video stabilization? Wtf? Billion dollar syndicates and it looks like the video is from a BlackBerry. Maybe play some Def Leppard while you're filming?

Do not want to get too personal, DW, but it looks like you are browsing at maybe 3AM your time?

No criticism, my attention hours on many channels are nuts too. The AC subject is pretty damn fun..

Surprised they didn't stay with bigger foils until they got their confidence up with the boat. They still look fairly shakey on the boat.

Aren’t they restricted on the number of foils? It’d be pretty stupid to waste a set on training wheels.

They are restricted on new foils yes, but "boat zero" is allowed to use various "legacy" components that have a different allotment provided those legacy components are as they were measured in for AC36.

RG shares his thoughts on ARBR work up:

Sounds like RG has access to the RFS system.

Generally they had a good day, there were some issues at the start of the session with the Swiss boat struggling to build sufficient speed to get foiling - but there is no Recon File System (RFS) video of them using a chase boat tow to lift off.
