While waiting for his new Imoca, Yoann Richomme had his new Class40 delivered last Wednesday to the Lalou Multi yard. At the helm of this Lombard plan, Richomme wants to defend his title on the Route du Rhum 2022.
Winner of the 2018 Route du Rhum in Class40, Yoann Richomme will take part in the Drheam Cup, a 1,000-mile solo race between Cherbourg and La Trinité-sur-mer on July 17. Something to get straight to the heart of the matter. The objective is to shine in four months between Saint-Malo and Guadeloupe: “Even if we know that the competition will be tough with 55 competitors including 26 new boats, we are keen to do well”.
Richomme is not starting from scratch in the Class40: he has notably sailed on the sister-ship of his boat, the Quéguiner - Innoveo owned by Corentin Douguet: "We have installed the same autopilot on board the Class40, we are working with the same designer of sails and sensors are also identical. There are many parallels between the two boats.”
His Imoca will be launched in early 2023.
