Huge interest in France, record building year, record members, looking like record participants.
Just like the top year before the 08 crash, or even better.

From TIp and Shaft;

Experiencing notable growth during 2020 and 2021 the momentum in the Mini 6.50 has really exploded this past winter. The Mini Class has recorded a marked increase in requests for membership. Yards for building are at capacity, the second-hand market is going mad and training centers are flourishing. As for the race organisers, their waiting lists for events are getting much longer.

and 4+ sisterships to that boat are already in build.

969 is available for a 2year charter too. Considering that boat is a factory Structures Proto it's likely got everything

"Préparé aux petits oignons" does not really translate well...

It means prepared with care, meticulously.

It is coming from cooking; when you prepare a dish with small onions, it means that you took care of adding the best ingredients...

Yes.  I'm aware.  French was a second language in school in Ol' Blighty.  Just have to love the translation.

At first the blunt noses looked a bit weird.
I am getting used to it.
This one is from Philippe Elies.

What is new to me is a mini with a wing sail.

To be installed at the beginning of the transat.
I would not feel safe with a wing on boat in a storm, but they take the risk.

Very interesting Mr Tanton....

Is this just a concept or have you developed this further ?

Can I/somebody buy a set of plans from you ?.

Also when I tried to go your website,  my anti virus wouldn't let me.  Has something nasty hacked yr site ? :unsure:

I couldn't enter your site either.
Since you promoted wingsails for cruising;
Those rendered pictures depict hoistable wings I beleive.
Or a twin sail configuration like in the latest America's Cup?
As said before I wouldn't feel safe if I had a wingsail on my boat that you can't lower in case of a storm.
Not to mention the ammount of work to lower a wing when docked.

About the site: Not sure what is going on. But by going to Google and typing tantonyachtdesign.blogspot.com, you should get there. For information about the boat. On Search type: From junk rig to Elia. scroll down to the end. TYD#153 has been commissioned and a full set of plans is available for this aluminum boat. Still waiting to be build though. Contact me at: [email protected] for full information.
