This 117th episode is dedicated to the Mini en Mai, a 500-mile solo race on the Mini 6.50 circuit, which started on Tuesday, May 9 at 11am from La Trinité-sur-Mer. Our guests are the race director, Yves Le Blevec, the president of the Mini 6.50 class, Jean Marre, who participates in the Mini in May in series on his Raison Sport plan in the City-Team for The Planet, and Caroline Boule, registered in prototype on the Manuard foiling plan, Nicomatic.

Yves Le Blevec begins by presenting the course and the conditions that await the 100 solitaires, planning a rather windy 10th edition. Caroline Boule and Jean Marre, after looking back on their first solo race of the season, the Pornichet Select, talk about their expectations on this Mini in May which is still full, with 10 minists on the waiting list the day before the start. A recurring phenomenon on the circuit that the class treats as best as possible via a system of preferences that Jean Marre details.

Yves Le Blevec looks back at the last Plastimo Lorient Mini which, for the first time, was raced in mixed doubles, with 85 duos at the start! "I'm delighted, it shows that a lot of women want to sail," he says. Caroline Boule is also delighted with this female participation, she who had "doubts" about the need to impose the format.

Jean Marre then evokes the return to grace of the prototypes, 28 this year on the Mini in May (20 in 2022), favored by the measures taken by the class and probably a phenomenon of saturation in series. Among these prototypes, Nicomatic, that of Caroline Boule, equipped since last December with foils, which, according to the Franco-Polish, "has completely changed the behavior of the boat", which flies from 8 knots of wind and goes "twice as fast" at certain speeds, with a record average of an hour close to 20 knots!

Jean Marre and Caroline Boule take stock of the forces present this season in series and proto, before evoking their participation in the Mini Transat, uncertain for the first who is trying at the same time to set up a Class40 project with the Transat Jacques Vabre in the viewfinder. The second sees itself staying a few more years in Mini to complete the development of its foiling prototype, but is also open to a Class40 project if it finds partners.

Finally, Yves Le Blevec talks about the ongoing transmission of the Ultim Actual bar to Anthony Marchand, the objective being to allow the latter to best prepare for the Arkea Ultim Challenge, which will start on January 7, 2024.

Hey a new tracker Solu, with easier to find who designed the boats... but the weather not much options.

Attention, a US boat in the race.

It's been used for a couple of races, minis don't always use yellow bricks so its a bit variable as to who the tracker is with

The only other new foiling design the Manuard of Caroline Boule has not started
but the two women doing well in Proto are Laure Galley and Marie Gendron who built her own boat ....both sailing Raison designs
and for a non scow design Jacques Delcroix is always a strong competitor in the old Etienne Bertrand design

Last year was a 6 day race round a way point in a glassy celtic sea and with everyone getting trapped in the bay and then finishing in a painful procession
