It is a good idea, as SA has been a place of innovation in the past ie:
The decksweeper main sail has been mentionned here as early as 2011 (2 years before ETNZ closed the gap in 2013) and 4 years before Mischa made one for his A-Cat in 2015 for the Nederland National
It was in a thread brought by a young German engineer (Thillo ??) who presented his A-Cat wing.
That is where the decksweeping has been suggested by an Anarchist and was considered as a relevant suggestion by "Captain Horizon" (The only guy who actually buid an A-Cat wing which actually works and was purchased later by Jimmy Spithill for Oracle BMW.)

Don't talk it up too much. I had a decksweeper main on my 30' catamaran in 2001 and I was by no means the first.

Big breakthrough for TNZ has been their development of simulator, AI and bot technology. These have enabled the Kiwis to push the design development further and faster. But the Challengers will now be catching up fast.
The first decksweeper main I saw was on the C-cat Aquarius V, circa 1976

You are right Mischa from DNA Catamaran was not the first one to sail a decksweeper, in Australia in the 70's or 80's a big Nacra (probably 25 feet beachcat) had already a stepped sweeping main like Moth today
In Multihull Magazine in the80's The Goodall Brothers experimented a similar sail on a A-Cat with a wisbone boom.
I wanted to show the new owner of SA how innovative can be his new website

I don't. The majority of the last event was spent on foils. So ability to get on the foils will have little benefit, less than even a marginal gain in top speeds.
And the boats have got lighter. So I expect to see thinner, higher aspect foils.
I will be particularly looking for anything that might reduce cavitation - e.g. holes that open at high speed to allow bleed across
