and another mass shooting

Everybody is the "militia" in 1776.
I'm glad you're going to accept the "Well regulated" part. I suggest all assault rifles, including Tom's wife's, be locked up at the local armory. New rifles will only be allowed in standard NATO calibers so that ammunition stocks can be standardized (have you seen the ammo mess in Ukraine?). Twice yearly training will be held at the local armory so you can train, and clean, your weapon. You will be able to check out a single rifle during deer season. And you won't need more than 5 shells, cause, come on, you know if you don't hit on the first shot you won't hit it.

As Ronald Reagan so sagaciously said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”

...

Ronald Reagan would be appalled at today's Republican Party. He thought Trump was a born-rich snotty weirdo, and that was back when Trump spent Daddy's money taking out ads against innocent black people.

... ...
The Second Amendment is tyranny insurance, just like fire extinguishers are fire insurance.
....
Should a tyrannical government ever arise on American soil, or a foreign army invade the United States and the US military is stretched thin or annihilated or otherwise hampered in its response to the threat, the Second Amendment exists so that the people of the United States will be armed and ready to defend themselves and their liberty.

Has that ever happened?

Thankfully, no.
....

Go read some actual history.

Your highlighted phrase has NOTHING to do with the 2nd Amendment. It's a fantasy invented by the NRA.

Several times in the course of US history, large groups of citizens have decided "fuck this tyranny! Imma gettin' mah gunz..." and every single time, the US Gov't has defeated them and in most cases executed a bunch of them. The first time it happened, good old George Washington himself led troops to stomp out the anti-tyranny gunnuttz.

So don't take my word for it. Take George Washington's word... and deeds... for it.

You have the right to move the fuck out. Be glad, many countries do NOT let you move out.

No country ever legalized armed rebellion, and no country ever will. It's stupid as fuck to think it's even remotely likely. But hey, we already know where you stand...

^ You are a fucking imbecile. Are fire extinguishers primary purpose to kill things? No.

I just cannot understand how you lot can be so gripped with carrying guns you are quite happy to see child after child die. We may not be perfect over here but at least our government acted after one, yes just one horrific incident like this.

Apparently they killed a Capital police officer on January 6 according to leftist lore.

An assault rifle by definition has "selectable fire" (full auto). The left has tried to subvert that definition to include scary looking weapons.

More relatives of Colorado shooting victims sue Sturm Ruger
More relatives of people shot to death at a Colorado supermarket in 2021 are suing gun-maker Sturm, Ruger & Co. over how it marketed the firearm used in the massacre

assault rifle, military firearm that is chambered for ammunition of reduced size or propellant charge and that has the capacity to switch between semiautomatic and fully automatic fire. Because they are light and portable yet still able to deliver a high volume of fire with reasonable accuracy at modern combat ranges of 1,000–1,600 feet (300–500 metres), assault rifles have replaced the high-powered bolt-action and semiautomatic rifles of the World War II era as the standard infantry weapon of modern armies.

Like I said, we'll let the elected critters define it for you. Cheers!

I'm kinda paraphrasing Benwyn from memory here....."I'm sure the last thing that went through the minds of the dying 9-year olds is 'I sure hope they don't fuck up the definition of assault rifle and blame IT for the bullet that ripped through my body and took my life'"
And I'm sure the kids would appreciate that we all use the proper term for magazine, and not call it a clip.

Your ordinary average garden-variety fire extinguisher.

Now, let me ask you a question:

How many times have you actually used a fire extinguisher as it’s intended to be used?

Which is to say, you pulled the pin, pointed it at the base of a fire, swept it back and forth, and put the fire out?

I never have.

I’m guessing most of the people reading this never have, either.

Fires, thankfully, are pretty rare occurrences.

But they do happen sometimes.

Because of the risk of a fire, you see fire extinguishers everywhere.

They’re mandatory, in fact.

If a fire breaks out, and the fire department is minutes away, a fire extinguisher (and someone who knows how to use it) is your best bet.

Most fire extinguishers, thankfully, will never, ever be used. They’ll just sit there in their little holsters on the wall, quietly whiling their time away until they expire and are replaced.

But we keep ’em around just in case there’s ever a fire.

That’s the “point” of fire extinguishers. And I don’t hear anyone questioning it.

So I’m really not sure why people are questioning the “point” of the Second Amendment, even though it’s never been used as intended.

The Second Amendment is tyranny insurance, just like fire extinguishers are fire insurance.

Fires are rare, and so is tyranny—but not that rare.

As Ronald Reagan so sagaciously said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”

But the Second Amendment exists just in case it does. And responsible Americans keep their shooting skills sharp and their guns in good condition and accessible, should the eventuality ever arise.

Just like they keep fire extinguishers in good condition and accessible in case there’s a fire.

Nobody questions the need for fire extinguishers.

Why do they question the need for guns?
I have needed, and used, a fire extinguisher twice.
I have never needed a gun.

Thank goodness we don’t have to demonstrate a need to own a gun
Guns are rarely owned or used for self defense. They certainty are fun to shoot, perfect for hunting animals and just plain bad ass cool to have nearby, it’s America! To each their own and after that, MYOB !
