You can Google pics. Best classic good looks CW Hood 32 (they don't come any prettier), Alerion 28 & 33 runner up. Most coveted race boat MC38, J/111 runner up. Fun toys J/70, VX One & B/One. Those are my votes, YMMV.
Looks like one of the MC38s is a new Cone of Silence

Cruising World Boat of the Year - http://www.cruisingw...inees-announced

Cruising World 2013 Showcase Click the pic and then nearly all have eight more pics -http://www.cruisingw...w-boat-showcase

Sailing World - Sailing World appears to have taken the week off to celebrate their 50th anniversary. So instead of any pictures of real boats their website features fifty four....yes 54 pictures of men blowing through straws trying to get a 4 inch sailboat down a water filled track. Maybe it is good that there is nobody from the Sailing Anarchy home office at the show.....I think they might have thought the little straw was for something else!

It is called gutter boat racing. The idea was for the status quo (name brand manufacturers of stuff) to enter their own designed little sailboat. Okay so the winner is going to be Farr Design or maybe a Mark Mills kind of engineer or someone with some serious grey matter between their ears....oh hell no! The winner was the Bavaria Yachts importer! A damn sales guy who probably can't spell calculus.

Okay for those of you who have to see the 2013 sailing biz elite with a straw up their mouth...

Last day at the show...I've been the Coastal Climate Control booth (they are my regional distributor for the Solbian solar panels) selling panels & Genasun stuff (lithium batteries, charge controllers), etc. Tent A. Haven't had a chance to wander around at all...boat show prison!

Although I did sneak in a couple CX races Sat/Sun mornings...:)
How did I miss you there? I was hanging around for a while Friday ordering up spares for my refrigerator.

Kent Island!
I thought the show was -- OK -- at best. It really could be renamed the Annapolis charter cat and charter fat-butt monohull show with maybe a few other boats that sneaked in. I think it literally is at least 50% charter boats if not more. C&C only managed to get the 101 there. The charter cats all seem to be 2 stories tall at least now. Shannon had some boat that looked like a giant rectangular power boat with sails stuck on.

I agree with kent_island-sailor concerning the Show.

The cats have taken over, extending to the outer decks. A scarcity of familiar name monohulls, although the 10 yr old Gozzard 41 looked brand new, fresh from a factory refurbish. The IP Blue Jacket unfortunately didn't make it in time delayed until January.

Hoping that next year's Shows will finally show the economy is recovering.

goddamn that MC 38 looks amazing. Anyone know where they have a fleet? In alot of the press photos it looks like the crew is sitting way aft on the rail. Is this because that is where the boat reaches max beam, therefore max WL?

Like many of the newest high performance flyers you need the weight aft except in ultra light air. No real fleets yet though I am told Sydney will be first and that two or three will be sailing the caribbean season

Saw one pull into Jabins a couple of weeks ago, I thought "My god what an ugly piece of crap!" Then another one appeared and tied up. I could not belive anybody would build one of these. Two just blows my mind. Shannon used to build nice yachts.

They look even worse from the stern.

I went aboard the C&C 101 at the show expecting to love it. I currently have a C&C 29-2 so I do like the classic C&C lines. I thought the C&C 101 was goofy looking. The cockpit is nice and long, but the pushed forward cabin top makes the boat look funny. Those two things also marginalize the interior somewhat. The interior cabin is nicely appointed. as a friend of mine put it, "it is trying to be too many things to too many people. It is a boat that looks good on paper, and not good in person."

They were up to four as of a year ago. They claim 10 knots under power and a claim of UP TO 10 knots under sail...I have no idea what that means. :)

The one that really blew me away is this one. http://www.nordhavn.com/models/56/ Build what people will buy. Walter Schulz tried to keep building the old Shannon line and went belly up. He will build an old Shannon or a new Shannon classic looking boat but nobody is buying. They want the big one.

I look at it as someone who doesn't want to go full trawler....as a sailor you never want to go full trawler.

Looking at the shannon, it remind me of the gulfstars of the 80's. I think this is just a modern spin on it. It does neither sail nor power well. But is very comfy below deck, and that is what the wives want because they very rarely leave the dock

Yeah, weight aft.

It's a new boat with 14 built worldwide, so yeah. Five around Sydney so they aren't far off.

Sail one and you will know why.

really, a cruiser is a condo why not be comfortable and I'm not sure why you think they don't "sail or power well" ...
