Yes, I blame Hollywood and violent video games too. They don't exist in the rest of the world.

What could be the ONE factor that is unique to the USA compared to other developed countries?

Another forum I use that isn't US based has provided some levity

Christ imagine sitting in the shitty little break room at work thinking about killing yourself and then your dickhead manager comes in and does it for you

Funny, but the reply was chef's kiss

Talk about micromanagement

"But when he heard the sudden pops of gunfire and saw flashes of light, his years on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan took over."

Hahahahhaaaaaa Americans would be coming in their pants, they love that shit. Except somepne needs to explain to me where that tactic would have been used on the 'battlefield'. What a complete mind-wank.

Not sure where you got that chart, but it’s so far off that it borders on complete Bullshit. 6.5 / 100k of all homicides

Facts

In 2020, homicide rate for United States of America was 6.5 cases per 100,000 population. Though United States of America homicide rate fluctuated substantially in recent years, it tended to decrease through 2001 - 2020 period ending at 6.5 cases per 100,000 population in 2020.
First off the chart said gun murders which means they would be included in homicides. So less than 6.5. Per 100k not the made up crap in the chart.
You need to get stronger readers.

I just watched every episode of 'Suits' but it didn't make me rush out and buy a $12 000 suit and some hair gel...

You don't think Hollywood has contributed to the gun culture? You must live under a rock.
Why do you watch "Suits" every episode? (I dont watch it or any TV) something showing in the series makes you interested?
As many things on today's TV are Subminimal, what products they use, TV is one constant Ad 24/7 (shit even the cooking channels have counters lined with products, cooks have to buy.
Then take it to the extreme a "John Wick series" more bullets fired then word spoken,
John Wick has now killed a total of 299 people on-screen.
Total body count https://www.visu.info/john-wick-kill-count

The driving factor of increased gun violence is not the prevelance of guns, it is undeniably a certain genre of video games. The facts brook no other conclusion.

According to the National Academy of Game Trade Reviewers, Dragon Age: Inquisition was Game of the Year in 2014 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was Game of the Year in 2019. If you cross reference those results with the chart below, you will see a noticeable uptick in gun-related homicides the next year.

It is undeniable, melee focused sword & sorcery type games are the driving factor behind increased gun violence. We should have listened, Dungeons & Dragons is the gateway drug to hell.

Research on gang member and thug activity with respect to Dark Souls is ongoing, but preliminary data is not good.

Could you cite the source for the above. Nothing derived from that simple chart is undeniable other than one line is red and one is blue.

I picked the chart because it was easy and reflected the same trends from multiple other sources. Again, it is sword-based games that cause gun violence. Just look at the data.

That chart is from Wikipedia, which includes its sources. It matches the trends from other sources. You can compare it to the trends shown by the Pew Center’s research and other sources. I don’t think there is much argument that there was a jump starting in 2015 and a huge jump in 2020.
