The same people who dismissed the dollar as fiat money not supported by gold now buy fiat money supported by wasted electricity.
I'm not even sure that the dollar counts as fiat money any more. Does Fiat even sell vehicles in the US any more? My economics text says that it's not fiat money if you can't walk into a dealer and buy a Fiat with it.

Although a nice read I rarely ever read so much BS in one thread. Earn honest money, pay honest taxes for keeping our world continue turning and pay your crew in the same currency you get paid.

Although I accept beer currency from time to time - if I get approached working for cyber money all I can offer is grinding virtual sheets.

Or are you all talking about virtual sailing?

The dollar is not backed by gold. It is fiat backed by 13 air craft carrier groups.

what backs crypto. You gonna trust these guys?

those who had bitcoin at Mt Gox are about to get about 90 percent of their money back after 8 years of legal battles.

IMO it is not worth the potential hassles at this point.
Besides, when the big boys (eg IMF) get involved with converting from the dollar to a digital global currency, they are going to shut down any threats to them. MO of any government entity. They are more powerful than the mob.

Please someone might explain: why do all those superintelligent money magic people still try to sell us something? If they are only 10% as good as they pretend, why they do not quietly use their own money or take a credit and become billionaires. Why they insist on selling their stuff and live on commission only?

Why would anyone accept payment in worthless Crypto? Everyday it is worth less than the day before it. Etherium has plummeted from $4400 to $1000 and heading lower. Bitcoin a similar decline. Pay me in dollars!

Crypto currencies are all frauds.
Those who "create" them are not generating usable goods and services for trade. They want other people's valuable goods and services for those "cryptoids".
Just because one may foist them off on another victim (at a profit), does not make the fraud less.
And when (not if) the fraud collapses, those who created them will still be laughing at the gullibility of the muggles.

Sailors are not a particularly bright bunch. If you hang around the dock after racing, you will find that many crew will be happy to trade the 10 KEel Qoin that the skipper just paid them, in exchange for a 6 pack of beer......They are happy and you have just sold a 6 pack of beer for $400,000 in 2028 dollars!
True, true, but at todays inflation rate by 2028 you will only be able to buy one can of PBR for $400,000. So seems like a good deal to me!

Exactly, why indeed, is it just because they know that those with less money will fall for the BS and then get left holding the bag?? Giant ponzi scheme based on nothing. The Fed has quit pumping money into the market so now people are running for the hills. Everything was going up while quantitative easing was artificially boosting the market. Money was cheap, so it made sense to buy risky assets. Hopefully with rising interest rates the craziness will end soon.

The people selling stuff are good at selling, and rarely anything else. that's why they are working a phone or a newsletter or a microphone
