I would be looking for another boat to crew on if the owner didn’t want to pay me in anything other than American dollars. Crypto currency is Klepto currency

The last time I had a big weekend of sailing I paid the crew in my boat’s Crypto, which is called KEeL Qoins. Some of you have probably used KEeL Qoins without knowing I launched it. Anyway, one of the crew is all about FUD and said he wanted to cash in right away.

“No problem, 10 KEeL Qoins gets you 32.5 Knot Dollar$, “ I said. (Knot Dollar$ is the other ledger chain currency I launched for my boat).

So then he tries cashing in the Knot Dollar$ at the usual places- Metamask etc. and has issues with them so comes back telling me they can’t do it. I told him that’s between them and him because I can see his balance of Knot Dollar$ on my ledger so the problem is on their end.

Fast forward and I’m doing a prestigious race with this crew at the end of this month. Given the issues cashing in KEeL Qoins or Knot Dollar$ I figured this time I would just give them an NFT to mint. Each crew member would get their own and instead of using an address on the Ethereum chain we’ll just use an address on my Google Drive. Some of them are already complaining about how the image isn’t worth anything. I said, “It’s your NFT, when you mint it, you can set the market cap at 20,000USD or whatever you want” but they still don’t get it. Web3 bitches!

Here is an example of one of the images associated with a NFT for crew payment. And don’t any of you assholes even think of minting it unless you have about 32 KEeL Qoins to give me.

Well here’s an easy way around your dilemma. Why don’t you just sell that NFT you were going to give the crew for $20k. Give the crew $10k and keep the remaining $10k for yourself. With a crew of six you’ll net $60 which will help fund new sails and your crew will be the happiest and highest paid crew on the circuit. Just do that every day they race. Problem solved. Hell after a 10 race series you’d have netted $600k and can buy a bigger boat.

Sounds logical, but if he did that, he would not be able to charge each crew member "a flat gas rate of 75USD to 'share' the NFT off [his] drive." The funny thing is I can't figure out if the OP is just being satirical or if he is really duping his crew and making money off them at the same time. If this is for real, there's going to be a huge crew turnover on that boat.

I like where your head is. You definitely understand the space ("Web 5.0").

At this point I'd rather let the community ("crew") set the fiat value when they mint it. Gives them a sense of belonging and ownership.

However, if you wanted to make an offer on that sample jpeg I could let you mint it for.... let's say.... 5k USD

Fuck paying crew, how about crew paying to sail on a well prepped boat?
If you lose does the crew refund you

Why would anyone accept payment in worthless Crypto? Everyday it is worth less than the day before it. Etherium has plummeted from $4400 to $1000 and heading lower. Bitcoin a similar decline. Pay me in dollars!
The value of the dollar keeps going down while the price of beer is going up. Beer is today's bull market currency.

Ha, the value of the dollar is at a high. A few times today it was worth more than the euro, I don't think that has ever happened before. I'll take the dollar any day of the week for some worthless Crypo and even more worthless NFT, but some good quality beer works as currency for me.

Class/org rules limit the amount of crew who can be paid. But letting them mint an NFT of my kite let's them set the value of the jpeg at whatever they think they're worth. Win-win!

Inflation! Yesterday's Hamilton bought a good six pack, now he needs backup from a few Washington's. Even near beer could be had for Jackson and a Lincoln, now Lincoln gets swapped out for another Hamilton for the cheap stuff. Reach for a case of something good and you better be ready to part with a Grant.

Trying to do some mining while we're motoring (WLIS, not much wind.) Does anyone know where on my Yanmar 2GM20F I can plug in my new NVIDIA GeForce 3090 Ti, or do I have to convert to a later common rail diesel?

Wire me 10k USD and I'll remotely activate your trusty Yanny to mine Knot Dollar$ while you motor (they're not dollars; they're Knot Dollar$!)

If you don't mind turning the Manchester gasket upside down and letting me calibrate your phase inhibitor (remotely) I can rig your Yanny to mine KEeL Qoins even when it's not running!
