What a shame!

"Free "would be the only appropriate price, then pour $250,000 into it for a 6 knot shitbox.

A very cool 6 knot shitbox, but there you have it.

While I don't doubt the sums involved, I can't help but feel it is harsh to use the 6ksb moniker.......

Stan Honey has a great website for showing what he did to his, for those who are worthy enough to take it on.

Yes. The boat is called "Illusion", and it is a giant-killer when Stan and Sally race it.

They've done a lot of serious cruising on it as well. It was on a mooring near us in Northeast Harbor, Maine in the summer of 2020, far from its West Coast home.

The family that owns Schaefer Marine did a full, pro boatyard re-build of a C 40. They have 6 -8 videos out on the process

Rumour was that he spent over $200K - with the "industry discount".

I doubt most people would flip the boat upside down before prepping the hull for paint. I've seen it done with a Cal 20 but a 40???

$200k is a bargain to refit a 40 footer. I know personally.

People who have sailed on my boat agree.

Like all projects involving personal passion, expect to spend 4x to 10x more than your original guesstimate.
Yep. After performing a retrofit on a 43'er, totally agree, and mine didn't look like THAT. Yikes.
