My TackTick wind has a dead battery so I have disassembled it to get at the battery. But that is now why I am posting. What has me puzzled is that the wind vane isn't attached to anything. There is the feather, the shaft and a bearing in the top cover and that is it. Nothing. No potentiometers, no RPG, nothing. The shaft doesn't go below the top cover. How the hell does it work?
Anyone know how the TackTick wind transducer measures wind angle?

A magnet on the shaft, perhaps. Sensor would be a nearby Hall Effect chip. I think....

You win. Brilliant. There is a magnet in the base and a digital compass L883 on the circuit board below it. Thank you. It really had me scratching my head.
