Visually the thing is amazing. Will they pull it off is anyone's guess. Too me it's far more cool than just another tallest building in the world. I think it ranks right up there with the transparent walkway over the Grand Canyon.

Me thinks Rio has many more problems to worry about to be ready for the Olympics / Paralympics than building a pretty srtucture that will probably be more of a finanicial flop than an actual Solar driven Power Plant.

my sister used to live there and i went there a lot and such a thing never ever happened to me.

i doubt the robbery rate is very different from any metropolis in the world. maybe what is different is the recovery rate of the stolen items and the average jail-time of the perps.

I only know what I read. Anecdotally, I was there for a meeting in the early 90s, during which several colleagues were robbed and an entire busload of tourists were stripped of everything, including clothing.
