Biscayne Bay was like my personal playground in the 60’s and early 70’s … fond memories
It has degraded significantly since then. Especially the northern half. There has been a major reduction in seagrass due to pollution and rising water temperatures. We have also experienced several fish kills over the last couple of years due to the combination of environmental degradation, pollution, and those rising water temperatures .

It's a fair point.
"they" being the store or the government?

Trouble is, were the store to do anything about their hideous over use of meat and grocery packaging and allow customers to bring their own containers, they'd have to employ more staff to weigh and serve (remember that?).

Solution? go to independent butchers and green grocers where they'll wrap your meat in paper and not bag your peaches at all. Non in the area? Do something with local community groups.

Over there
I asked Open AI/Chat GPT "what does woke mean?"

It would be interesting to see what answers you all get for the same question: What does woke mean?

Here's the result it gave me:

The term "woke" has taken on various meanings over time, but it generally refers to a heightened awareness of social justice issues, particularly those related to racism and inequality. Being "woke" means being attuned to systemic injustices and actively seeking to challenge them.

The term originated in African American Vernacular English (AAVE) as a past tense form of "wake" and was later popularized by the Black Lives Matter movement. Today, it is often used as a buzzword in social and political discussions to describe individuals who are socially and politically aware.

However, the term "woke" has also been criticized for being overused and for promoting performative activism rather than meaningful action. Some people also view it as divisive or dismissive of different perspectives.

What about when a bent tree insists it is straight and even though it is clearly bent insists that you ignore your senses and refer to it as straight in defiance of reality and you are punished if you do not bend the knee and call it by what it wants to be called. And now the bent tree says...."ooh I am a victim of oppression" and now has an elevated status in tree society overall all other trees and kid and teen saplings who are just learning to accept their changing tree bodies say " hmmm I must be a bent tree trapped in a straight tree" because as an oppressed tree I have elevated status.

Unless they are engaged in logging, Pink Hue should just keep walking. The bent and straight trees in that copse aren’t hurting anyone & wont chase them.
