A California man carrying at least one weapon near Brett M. Kavanaugh’s Maryland home has been taken into custody by police after telling officers he wanted to kill the Supreme Court justice, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Note to certain people and politicians delighted with their ability to stir up violence for their benefit: Did you think somehow the introduction of violence to our politics would always be in your service?

The folks whose side has introduced violence to the political arena feel their violence is justified

The other side?  Well, they are the enemy.

President Biden had said earlier in the day:

"We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore..."

"...Brett Kavanaugh  is going to have to come through for us, and if he doesn't, that will be a, a sad day for our country because you're sworn to uphold our Constitution. Now, it is up to The Supreme Court to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we're going to walk down to Kavanaugh's place, and I'll be there with you, we're going to walk down, we're going to walk down."

I just wanted to write that to see if it sounded anything like what Trumpers would call incitement.

While I think the the majority of politics inspired violence can be contributed to the right, the left and its supporters have also been shown to be capable of violence.

Rather than pointing fingers, we need to condemn it across the board and work to understand why people feel so marginalized.

I don't really care about their feelings, but it would be awfully nice if the overwhelming message from society was NO SHOOTING PEOPLE, period.

Instead they get their urge to violence validated by all the yowling from people who see themselves as victims, and justified in taking stronger action even if they don't actually do it.

It's not a "freedom of speech" issue to have private chat rooms where skinheads talk about how they'd love to shoot black people. It's not OK to have "Christian" preachers hollering to their flock about killing gay people.
