Scomo seems to be a narcissist, so for starters he managed it to try to stay in power, first and foremost.
They have kept us with a strong economy however for this century, both parties have used population growth as a way to keep the economy ticking over nicely. It could be seen as the lazy and easy approach. It has cost us stagnant wages and increasing housing unaffordability. Quite frankly it has cost us more than we have benefited.
Maybe we would have been better off having a few recessions over the 30 year or whatever period we were free of them.

If voting was optional, I'd suspect the polling stations would be as busy as the Melbourne CBD during a lockdown.

Population growth via massive migration has had many negative outcomes. The overall pie does not get bigger, and so we all share a smaller portion of the pie, which means we are all a little 'poorer' - the necessary infrastructure has not kept up with the sprawling new suburbs, and so it is now a nightmare to get around Melbourne. I would say quality of life has reduced directly due to population growth

Today, the receptionist asked me "Who is that idiot Morrison?)
The elderly owner asked me WTH was happening with the solomon islands and when are we going to get rid of our idiot PM
and a 67 year old American woman in the lobby just rolled her eyes and said "yep, the world has too many idiots" I don't think she was talking about the hotel owner.
Seems his reputation has spread .

25 years abroad and I never once had a receptionist hang shit on the leader of the country I'm from in making small talk. Never had or heard of a receptionist making political small talk of any kind anywhere before.

They really need to keep Albo in isolation and away from the press.

In another car-crash run-in with journalists on Thursday morning following his day one campaign gaffe, the Labor leader could not outline his six-point plan on the NDIS when asked. He could only say ‘we will put people a the centre of the NDIS’ before one reporter shouted: ‘You do not know your own policy Mr Albanese’.
After a few more questions on different topics, Mr Albanese went off camera and journalists saw an advisor hand him a document.
